“Branding”
Let’s Analyze in your own 500 word:

1. Explain the meaning of branding.

Branding is a way of identifying your business. It is how your customers recognize and
experience your business. A strong brand is more than just a logo – it's reflected in everything
from your customer service style, staff uniforms, business cards and premises to your
marketing materials and advertising. A brand is a product, service, or concept that is publicly
distinguished from other products, services, or concepts so that it can be easily communicated
and usually marketed. A brand name is the name of the distinctive product, service, or
concept. Branding is the process of creating and disseminating the brand name.

2. Differentiate brand name from trademark. Give three specific examples of each.

Brand refers to is a name that relates to products and services offered by a company which
evokes positive images and emotions to the consumer. On the other hand, trademark refers to a
registered trade or brand name, logo, color, sound or slogan that basically identifies a company
to its services or products. The brand name is simply how the business chooses to be
identified. Trademarks, also called service marks, are marks that carry legal weight in terms of
representing a brand, often a business and its goods and services.

Types of trademarks include:

 Brand names like Apple, McDonald's, and Dolce & Gabbana.
 Product names like iPod and Big Mac.
 Company logos like the golden arches at McDonald's and NBC's peacock logo.
 Slogans like Capital One's "What's in your wallet?" and McDonald's "I'm lovin' it"

Examples of Brands:
 Samsung
 Apple
 Goldilocks
 Nike
 Nestlé
 Google
 National Book Store
 Alaska
 Jollibee etc.

3. Describe the importance of branding to entrepreneurs who will start their business.
Branding is important when trying to generate future business, and a strongly established
brand can increase a business' value by giving the company more leverage in the industry. This
makes it a more appealing investment opportunity because of its firmly established place in the
marketplace. The Brand will make our business known and it will also attract the people.
Branding is important because not only is it what makes a memorable impression on
consumers but it allows your customers and clients to know what to expect from your
company. It is a way of distinguishing yourself from the competitors and clarifying what it is
you offer that makes you the better choice. Your brand is built to be a true representation of
who you are as a business, and how you wish to be perceived.

4. Discuss the characteristics of a good brand name when an entrepreneur would like to
develop a brand name.

 It should indicate concrete qualities (For instance Firebird).
 It should not portray bad/wrong meanings in other categories. (For instance, NOVA is

plan, develop a brand name and trademark or logo for it.
