Executive Summary

Aliyah’s Friendly Bean is a start-up coffee and bakery retail establishment located in
Tagaytay near the Sky Ranch. Aliyah’s Friendly Bean is expecting to catch the
interest of a regular loyal customer base with its broad variety of coffee and pastry
products. The company plans to build a strong market position in the town, due to the
partners' industry experience and mild competitive climate in the area.

Every day, millions of people stop for an espresso-based coffee drink. People who
would not have dreamed of spending more than 10 pesos for a cup of coffee a few
years ago now gladly pay 100 to 200 pesos for their cappuccino, mocha latte, or
vanilla ice blended drink. Aliyah’s Friendly Bean is determined to become a daily
necessity for local coffee addicts, a place to dream of as you try to escape the daily
stresses of life, and just a comfortable place to meet your friends or to read a book, all
in one. Aliyah’s Friendly Bean will offer its customers the best-prepared coffee within
a few seconds in the area that will be complemented with pastries, as well as free
books that its patrons can read to enjoy their visit. Since many Filipinos are now
loving to have their coffee while reading a book or just chilling and looking at a
beautiful view that is why Aliyah’s Friendly Bean is a perfect place for those kinds of
people.

Aliyah’s Friendly Bean aims to offer its products at a competitive price to meet the
demand of the middle-to higher-income local market area residents and tourists.
Aliyah’s Friendly Bean will be owned and managed by Ms. Rofelle Alia Escoto along
with the staff.

Basis of Motivation

Consumer motivations to branded coffee shops are most influenced by three factors:
experience/ familiarity; convenience of location/travel; and friends and family. With
friendly staff, high quality of coffee and food, good atmosphere, and good reputation
the most important aspects for branded coffee shops.

Coffee is as much a part of many people's workday as a laptop or smartphone. Back

when people went to the office for work, coffee was even a shared experience. Either
your office had a coffeepot where you would bump into colleagues as you refill your
mug for the third time, or you would stop at Starbucks and pick up lattes for you and
your work buddies.

Most people start drinking caffeine because it makes them feel more alert and
improves their mood. Many studies suggest that caffeine improves cognitive task
performance in the short-term.

AISAT COLLEGE DASMARIÑAS

Leadership Style

The leadership style the owner use is Laissez-Faire Leadership meaning leaders who
practice this style are known for giving their team members a lot of freedom. They
provide support and resources for team members when it is necessary, but they do not
constantly micromanage employees. This can be an effective leadership style if you
have a lot of trust among your team members and you know that they do good work
and manage their time well on their own. The owner is practically close to all staff
and employees.

Start-up requirement

Aliyah’s Friendly Bean is a sole proprietorship business that aims to give calm, peace
and happiness to the people who loves coffee. Our Shop can give a high-quality
coffee for an affordable price and as well as provide a good and beautiful scenery for
the customers. The business is BIR and DTI registered which validates its operation
and services. The employees are hired based on their excellence and performance.

Financial Plan

We want to finance growth mainly through cash flow. We recognize that this means
we will have to grow more slowly than we might like. The most important indicator in
our case is inventory turnover. We must make sure that food inventory turnover stays
at approximately four turns per month, or we risk loss through spoilage.

We do not want to let our average collection days get above 45 under any
circumstances. This could cause a serious problem with cash flow, because our
working capital situation is tight. Most credit sales will be via credit and debit cards.
We do have plans to initiate direct billing for law firms and other businesses
conducting regular visits. We must target a net profit of 14% at the least, and hold
marketing costs to no more than one to three percent of gross sales.

Sales Forecast

Our sales forecast assumes no change in cost of prices, which is a reasonable

assumption for the last few years. We are expecting to increase sales from 100,000 at
the end of the first year, to 200,00 by the end of the third year. The growth forecast is
in line with the restaurants in the area and is tied to the projected increase in
population of the immediate area.

AISAT COLLEGE DASMARIÑAS

AISAT Building Emilio Aguinaldo Highway, Dasmariñas City, Cavite

 Custom designed marketing material such as printed banners, promotional

posters, punch cards, pre-purchased beverage cards, reader boards, etc.

Competitive Analysis/Comparison

No other wholesaler in the market offers full-service delivery with the variety of
product we feature. We are better positioned than our main competitors to take
advantage of the increasing demands of coffee and specialty beverage supplies
because we focus exclusively on high-quality distribution and customer service.

Our primary weakness is that we are a new business competing largely against
established suppliers. To significantly build sales, we must not just find new
customers we must take customers away from existing suppliers. However, by
offering a superior selection of supplies, new groundbreaking products to the market,
and focusing on high-quality service and full-service delivery, we feel will can
quickly establish accounts and build strong relationships.

Sales Literature

Sales literature to be distributed to both current and potential customers will include
brochures, fliers, newsletters, as well as other print media such as print
advertisements. Ms. Rofelle Alia Escoto is highly skilled in graphic design since she
works as a graphic designer before and she also knows desktop publishing, and has
quality design and printing equipment to publish professional pieces at a low cost.

Market Analysis Summary

Coffee is the second largest commodity market next to oil, and growth is expected to
continue at a strong pace for the foreseeable future. Aliyah’s Friendly Bean launches
with an exciting new coffeehouse concept in a receptive and steadily growing market
segment the specialty coffee retail business.

Despite economic downturns in recent years the specialty coffee business has been a
bright spot. While literally hundreds of businesses in many categories are facing poor
sales, negative balance sheets and even bankruptcy, coffee chains continue to show
strong growth.

It is clear that people love for good coffee continues during good times and bad.

Market Segmentation

Market segmentation means the process of classifying a market into different groups
of buyers based on their needs, characteristics, or behaviors that might need marketing
initiatives or separate products. Also, companies offering various brands utilize
psychotropic variables like lifestyle to categorize a market into several segments.

The early months of Aliyah’s Friendly Bean focused on the well-off market, which
was mainly composed of different kinds of customers and those with white-collar
jobs. However, they discovered opportunities for growth in the industry, setting
strategies to accommodate a broader scope of a market segment.

Aliyah’s Friendly Bean classifies its market based on demographic, geographic,

behavioral, and psychographic. They then use a product differentiation approach to
satisfy varying customer groups. As with the geographic segmentation, the company

17 | P a g e
AISAT COLLEGE DASMARIÑAS

AISAT Building Emilio Aguinaldo Highway, Dasmariñas City, Cavite

has retail outlets in several locations where each outlet reflects the preferences and
tastes of the local market. The outlets might have similar designs but vary in product
categories such as baked food and coffee.

Demographics will include the company's target market's age, occupation, and income
level. Meanwhile, the psychotropic variables include customer tastes and styles to
provide authentic products for diverse customer needs. The behavioral elements in
Aliyah’s Friendly Bean market segmentation can tackle consumer loyalty and
consumption behavior.

Target Market Segment Strategy

Aliyah’s Friendly Bean will appeal to urban professionals residing in the targeted
intown neighborhoods, the many downtown hotel visitors/conventioneers, and
workers who desire a sophisticated yet casual eating, coffeehouse entertainment
experience. The business will also meet an under-served need for a pedestrian-
friendly dining/coffeehouse establishment for the numerous residents in the area,
particularly newcomers to the immediate area.

Members of this market segment dine out frequently, approximately three times or
more per week. The market segment is largely made up of singles between the ages of
18 and 40, married couples in the same age bracket without children, graduate and
professional students attending area universities, tourists, and conventioneers.

Market Needs

Our customer's dining and entertainment needs are critical to the success of Aliyah’s
Friendly Bean. As a supplier of a full-service dining experience, Aliyah’s Friendly
Bean must appeal to people who are interested in integrating our type of cuisine
regularly into their dining/food purchase experiences.

Our customers are well educated and interested in partaking of new experiences.
Keeping the menu and the entertainment offerings "fresh" will remain a constant
challenge to the business. Segments of the target market tend to dine out, visit coffee
shops, and seek evening entertainment frequently. They tend to choose comfortable,

18 | P a g e
AISAT COLLEGE DASMARIÑAS

AISAT Building Emilio Aguinaldo Highway, Dasmariñas City, Cavite

affordable venues, and repeat appearances at places that offer familiar scenery with
new twists which is perfect since our shop is located in Tagaytay.

Market Trends
Philippines is experiencing a trend toward the creation of evening
dining/entertainment venues. They are popular and gaining more recognition.
Evidence of this is found in local news and magazine coverage and of course in social
media. These venues are finding new homes in the areas close to and/or adjacent to
town.

The city's burgeoning music scene is growing and in need of more venues to
accommodate the mainstream pop, K-pop, OPM, and live dance music artists that are
choosing Philippines as home for their production efforts.

Market Growth

Coffee has been a growing industry for the past several years. In the
gourmet/specialty coffee industry alone, the figures show an impressive rate of
growth here in our Country.

The new age beverage industry is growing at an equally strong pace. Sales growth in
the chai tea category alone is estimated to be 50% historically, with projected growth
rates of 40% per year. Energy drinks, including brands such as Red Bull and trends
such as Milk Tea are driving the new age beverage growth, and have increased 50-
fold in the past three years especially when pandemic happened.

Bubble Tea has been a rapidly growing market in Asia, though it is relatively new to
the Philippines. A lot of products has been trending here in Philippines, sales have
been exploding and the craze of the “Tapioca Pearl” is expected to spread throughout
the Philippines.

Industry Analysis

The restaurants and coffeehouses that make up the community of establishments in

the area surrounding of Aliyah’s Friendly Bean are quite diverse. Their concepts
range from typical beverages/chain venues to affordable cold and baked products.
Along with some Books and games that be used while for the customer’s order.
However, the predominating nature of the immediately surrounding restaurants and
coffee shops is casual/upscale.

Competition and Buying Pattern

While there are a handful of coffee and specialty beverage suppliers providing
product in our market, there is still a great deal of room for new business. Most
importantly, there is room for new business that understands the need for high-quality
service and sales support in addition to product at competitive prices.

In this industry, customers choose their suppliers based on available product, price,
and service though most often, it is the service that suffers most. While one supplier
may offer the product at the right price, they do not provide the level of service that
the customer demands. The next supplier may offer the right level of service, though
their prices are too high. This results with the customer purchasing most of their
supplies through a cash and carry style wholesale store – leaving the customer with no
service or support.

By positioning ourselves in the market with in-demand, quality product at competitive

prices, with a consistent high level of customer service we are confident that we will
see customers and their business continue to increase.
