 INTRODUCTION

Background of the study

Sex Education is described as education about human sexual anatomy, sexual
intercourse, reproductive health, emotional relations, reproductive rights and

responsibilities , abstinence, contraception, family planning, body image, sexual

orientation , sexual pleasure, values, decision making, communication, dating,

relationship, sexually transmitted infections and how to avoid them, and birth

control methods.

But defined sex education as the examine of the traits of beings; a male and
female. Such traits make up the person’s sexuality, Sexuality is an important
factor of the lifestyles of a person and nearly all the human beings including
children want to understand about it. Sex education consists of all the educational
measures which in any way that also additionally of existence which have their
middle intercourse.
Its further said that sex education stands for protection, presentation extension, and
development of the family based on accepted moral ideas. Leepson sees sex
education as instruction in various physiological, psychological and sociological
factors of sexual reaction and reproduction .Kearney also defined sex education
as involving comprehensive course of action by the school, calculated to bring
about the socially desirable Attitudes, practices and personal conduct on the part
of the children and adults, that will best protect the person as a human and the
family as a social institution.

Sex Education should be implemented in schools due to its benefits to teenagers.

The implementation of sex education in schools will offer teens with the right
information to enable them to make the right choices in life. On the other hand,some
have claimed that implementing sex education in schools actually promotes the
risk of intercourse and is ineffective. However, based on various research findings,
it is shown that sex education is effective by reducing the rate of teenage
pregnancy, providing correct information and also decreasing the number of HIV,
AIDS, and STDs cases among teenagers.

Health Education plays important roles in human life and it is also a fundamental
right. It Can help to increase self-esteem; develop effective communication skills
and encourage awareness about health and disease related knowledge the mixture
of myths / stigma secrecy , lack of knowledge , social disparity and negative
message confuses young people and encourages poor self-esteem resulting in
uninformed choices being made and it may lead to incorrect knowledge about
sex, unprotected sex, unplanned pregnancy or deeply unhappy and damaging
relationship. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore sexual knowledge,
sexual attitudes and perception also the importance of sex education.
 Statement of the Problem

The study aims to determine the knowledge, attitude, perception and importance
of integration of Sex Education; Approach to Healthy Decision Making

Specifically, this study ought to answer the following questions:

1. What are the perception of the participants towards sex education?

2. What are the possible problems resulting from the lack of sex education of

the youth?

3. Is sex education relevant as a course to be taught in education?

4. What are the knowledge of sex education among senior high school students?

Objectives of the Study

Define the perception of the participants towards sex education

1. Ascertain the possible problems resulting from the lack of sex education of
the youths

2. Find out why sex education relevant as a course to be taught in education.

3. Determine the knowledge of sex education among the Senior High students.
Scope and Limitations of the Study

This research will be conducted in Salay Senior High School.Specially students in

Salay National High School, School Year 2022-2023. This study will focus to the
knowledge, Attitudes, importance of sex education especially on the perception of the
students based on the topic. The survey questioners of this study can help us gather more
information towards our study.

Definition of Terms

For the purpose of this study, the following terms are operationally defined to
facilitate
Understanding by the readers.Knowledge refers to the Senior high students of se the sex
education.Attitude refers to the Senior high student’s response characterized by their
behavior, beliefs, opinions, practices and interests in sex education. Perception refers to
the
students to awareness of sex education.
Importance of sex education aims to develop and strengthen the ability of children and
young people to make conscious, satisfying, healthy and respectful choices regarding
relationships, sexuality and emotional and physical health. Sexuality education does not
encourage children and young people to have sex.
