About
Ian has over 20 years’ experience as a pensions actuary, and previously worked for Aon
and its predecessor organisations. His roles there included Scheme Actuary to one of
Aon’s own staff pension schemes, Team Manager, and the lead for Aon’s largest global
client events.

As the Employability OFcer for SMSAS Ian focuses on supporting students taking the
early steps in their career: providing practically-focused lectures. He has received
several ‘Above and Beyond’ awards from students reKecting the quality of his lectures.
Professional
Ian has been heavily involved in the work of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries
(IFoA), over many years.

Currently, he is a member of the Pensions Board, and is the Module Lead for the
Pensions Exams SP4, SA4 and P4. He has taught on behalf of the IFoA in Armenia,
India, Ghana and Albania.

He has previously been a member of the IFoA’s Education Committee and of Panels
reviewing Actuarial Science courses at universities around the world, to ensure the
quality standards of the Exemptions process are maintained.
