ESSAY; 10 pts. each

1.What is the present condition of the housing sector in the Philippines and what is the government’s
action on this problem. On your own words and observations, are they effective?

From what I can observe, the housing sector along with the Philippines’ Government aren’t doing enough
to justify the Filipino people’s needs, especially the ones below and are in poverty. The existing
Government as it is, is almost full of corruption, and therefore making big punches to poverty and
unfortunately, increasing its status in a national level. Housing sector here in the Philippines rather has a
poor attention given by the Philippine Government and as well as its Housing Sectors. At the end of the
day, those we badly need help doesn’t get help at all, how poor and sad our country’s reality is.
2. As a future architect, planner and designer, how can you help in a way to solve the or somewhat address
the problem on housing?

As long as the population increases, so does the supply and demand, in which it also includes the need for
more housing spaces. As an aspiring architect myself, for now, what I can suggest is to build more
apartment buildings as an alternative with building of low-cost housing in subdivisions, so that lot spaces
can be of maximized use to its full potential, and in return will also provide more families to live in comfort.
The erecting of apartment buildings is also more affordable, which can be more easily accessed than those
of acquiring low-cost housing. All in all, apartment buildings save more space, money, and provides lot of
rooms for low-earning families who yearns to obtain what they call “home” ,in reach to their financial
capabilities.
