LAB SAFETY RULES

Dress Code

1. Safety goggles must be worn whenever working with chemicals, heat, sharp objects or any substance
that might get into your eyes.

2. Wear gloves when working with specimens or when handling strong chemicals

3. Tie back long hair, don't wear baggy clothing or hanging jewelry that can touch heat or chemical
sources

4. Open-toed shoes are not appropriate for the lab instead wear sneakers

General Safety

5. Be serious, alert and never horse around when working in the laboratory.

6. Read all directions for an investigation and follow all instructions exactly as written

do not handle any lab equipment without

permission

some materials should only be handled by

the teacher

if any spills occur notify the teacher

immediately no

food or drinks are allowed during

laboratory activities

this includes gum wash your hands before

and after handling any lab materials

keep the lab area clean and free of

unnecessary books

papers coats backpacks and equipment

first aid notify your teacher

if you have any medical problems

including allergies or asthma


report any accidents or injuries to the

teacher

immediately

know the location of all lab safety

equipment

including the fire extinguisher fire

blanket
