operating, changing accessories, or performing maintenance on CONSMAC equipment. All possible situations cannot be
covered in these instructions. Care must be exercised by everyone using, maintaining or working near this equipment.

Preface
CONSMAC vibrating rollers apply a hydraulic speed- transmission, changing speed without shifts. Even a new
hand can operate like a veteran after learning this manual in a short time which states HOW TO USE and HOW TO
MAINTAIN the road roller in details. Please read this instruction and engine manual carefully before operating
rollers

Safety operation

This instruction guides how to operate rollers correctly.
Be sure to read this manual before operating ,to keep the rollers at the best working condition.

Should strictly obey the warning labels in this manual and the operation labels on roller body.
DANGER :Fail to follow the indication of this mark, the risk of death or severe injury will be extremely
high..
WARNING:Fail to follow the indication of this mark ,death or serious injury may occur.
CAUTION:Fail to follow the indication of this mark, injury or hurt may probably occur.

Anyone who is not well trained under the Safety and Health Rules Article will not be allowed to run the rollers

General Matters

●No permission to operate the roller in following cases:


○Fatigue or illness;
WARNING
○Taking drugs;
○Drunk;

● Read the manual carefully, and then operate the rollers in a


correct way
● To know HOW TO USE the engine, please refer to engine
manual attached
● Master the structure of the rollers
● Wear protective equipment (helmet, shoes , etc.) and appropriate
clothing.
● Check the roller regularly, operate the rollers in good working
condition
● Please use new labels in case of any difficulty on understanding
CAUTION
the labels(operation approach,
warning marks, etc.) attached on the roller body,
● Do not let children touch the rollers.
Store the rollers in a right place especially the engine with
battery, the starter keyboard part should be outward, and be
kept in right place
● Turn off the engine before cleaning the rollers.
Disconnect the battery wire before using engine with battery.
● Should not be responsible for incidents caused by re-forming
and repairing.

Refuel

● Refuel after engine shut-off and cooling down


● Refuel when no flammable materials are surrounded, and pay
more attention to overflow, if any, clean it up..
WARNING
● Refuel in a place where is far way from ignition sources (No
smoking in particular).

● Any overflow is dangerous.
Working place and ventilation

● Not allow run the rollers in a room or tunnel with poor


ventilation.
DANGER
Engine exhaust contains harmful substances---"carbon
monoxide"

Operation attention

● When operating (move or run), set the engine revolutions to


specified values. Especially in case of operating on slope
surface, power may become weak in low revolutions ,which can
lead engine shutdown, and the rollers may automatically slip
downward with its own weight(gravity causes).In this case, the
drive shaft should be immediately pulled to middle position to
shut off the roller, then ensure the brake is locked and the drum
stops
● When operating on slope, to prevent the accident as much as
possible , arrange skilled workers to operate the roller. Make the
roller move straight rather than oblique in low speed by
handling drive shaft; Do not let other people get in the slope
area.
● When reversing on slope, the operator should handle drive shaft
WARNING
with pulling joystick leftward or rightward; If pulling the
drive shaft backward directly, take potential risk into account
first. Try to avoid the said operation.
● Set a notice or fencing in a place where tumble or slipping may
occur
● When reversing, the operator should handle drive shaft with
pulling joystick leftward or rightward; Try to avoid pulling the
joystick backward directly.
● Shut off the engine and unplug the starter key when the
operation is over; When parking, push the brake to fix the drum
to stop the roller. Do not park on slope, if have to ,push the
parking brake to locked position to stop the engine before
engine idle. Ensure brake is locked, pull the drive shaft to the
middle, then shut off the engine.

● Before starting, watch if any person or objective surrounded
and then push drive shaft to Middle and vibratory shaft to OFF
● Should always confirm the location of operator and operating,
no barriers such like telegraph pole or electric fence and etc.
● Should place indicator “No Passing” in working area
● Distracted and violent operation is prohibited.
Should leave enough space to operating the roller.
Sudden brake is prohibited unless in the event of
CAUTION speeding, emergency startup or other urgent cases
● If moving backward and encountering a block barrier, should
reverse the roller roughly 2 meters in front of the block and then
move forward
● Please install illumination devices when working at night
● Should stop working immediately in case of any potential risk
or severe weather such as dense frog, high wind etc.
● If the roller works abnormally, please stop working immediately

Loading and Unloading

● Push the speed shaft let the revolutions reach the specified
values. when base plate moves upward, in the cast power is
weak due to low revolutions or some other reasons, the roller
may move by gravity. If happening, please pull the drive shaft
to Middle and then stop the roller.
WARNING When reversing on slope, the operator should handle drive shaft
with pulling joystick leftward or rightward; If pulling the
drive shaft backward directly, take potential risk into account
first. Try to avoid the said operation.

● Loading and unloading should be conducted by qualified


operator.
● Dirt, grease, snow and water attached on containers, base plate
and roller may cause the roller slip. Clean it up before loading
and unloading
● Pull the truck's parking brake to halt the tire.
CAUTION
● Base Plate should be put straight to match path of roller
rolling , angle between the plate and ground should be set
within 15 degree.
● The roller should get on base plate in a right direction:
Loading: Move forward
Unloading: Move backward

Lifting and loading should be done by qualified operators

● Lift, it is necessary to confirm the machine's components


(especially the hook, anti-vibration rubber, safety devices, etc.)
whether there are any loose screws or damages, drop-off and
other security risks
● Shut off the engine before lifting
CAUTION ● Use the lift rope with great strength
● Place the roller in open area and then lift vertically with hanging
hook in case of any unexpected impact.
● People or animals are absolutely prohibited to stand in the
lifting area
● Do not lift the roller to an unnecessary height

Transport

● In transit, use steel bracket to prevent roller from moving and

then fix the vehicle front and back with ropes and towing wires
● The engine should be shut off in transit.
● Confirm whether the oil tank cap is screw down ,and the fuel
CAUTION gate is closed in case of any leakage
● The engine fuel tank should be empty when the roller
transported in long distance or in bad conditions road.

CAUTION ● Muffler is very hot, do not touch it.


● It is great danger to open the radiator when the engine is still

warm. Open the cap when engine cools down
● Should pay more attention to the electrolyte which is a kind of
severe-reacting solvent. If the electrolyte splashes to the skins,

eyes or clothing, wash with running water immediately and see
doctors as soon as possible

Hydraulic system maintenance

● Replace the first filter 5 hours after initial running


● Replace the second oil filter after second running
WARNING
● Then replace the oil filter every 6 years
● Replace hydraulic oil every 1 year

Roller cover
1. Before operating:
Check when engine is shut off. Open the cover, prop up the
cover with the stick inserting into the hole of the cover
(Figure.1,2)
1-1 Oil pressure System (Figure.3)
● Oil tank level gauge can be seen outside, confirm the
it is specified amount(Middle volume).
(Oil recommended: Shell Tellus #46 hydraulic oil)
● Confirm no leakage in pump, tank, motor, seals and hose
joint, etc.

● Check the volume of engine lube and cooling water .

● Open the cover to check whether the V strape is loose
If tension gets weak, then the vibration get weak.
( Figure 5)
● Check whether the vibration bin leaks oil. If so, pull out
the plug in the side burette to confirm the oil level
(Figure 6)

1-4 Operating
● Confirm the shafts and the circuit (forward, Speed

● Drive shaft can go into 3 directions: forward, middle and
backward. Push forward, then the roller goes forward,
pull backward, then goes backward, and Middle means

● Check whether there are damages and bend caused by dirt
jam

● If necessary, clean up drum and scraper

● Confirm no loose screws, nuts and other parts in the roller
(including engines)

2. Running
2-1 Starting
。Push the speed shaft to working position.
。Pull drive shaft to Middle , and vibratory shaft to OFF.
。Switch the engine fuel.
Handle startup(Figure 11,12)
。Insert the startup handle into shaft plug to make them match
with each other.
Note: Handle can go two force position Please start to rotate
from downside position. In case of starting upside, it may

injure wrist or rotate reversely
。First raise release rod with left hand, while holding and rotating
the start handle tightly with right hand. Second, rotate 2 or 3
circles with right hand while releasing the rod with left hand,
then the engine starts to work. Startup handle
。Note: When the engine is starting to work, the start handle may
slide out from the shaft naturally, therefore, do not release the
handle in case of rotating with the shaft. That is very
dangerous.

Electric startup(Figure 13,14)


Insert the key ,dial to the operating position then sound beep.
Continue to dial rightward, engine starts to run. and meanwhile hand
off the switch immediately
Buzzer may stop to work when engine starts to run.
There is safety switch that if joystick is pushed to inactive position, Release rod
the electromotor will not work.

With Engine KUBOTA:


Start with the key and then switch to preheat position,
warm-up the engine as follows:.

Then switch rightward to starting position, the engine
starts to work , meanwhile. hand-off switch immediately

。 When not starting , do not let the engine run more than 5 seconds.
Key switch
Switch the key back to the operating position ,re-start the engine
after roughly 20-30 seconds
。 Switching to “Start” when engine running is definitely
Prohibited.
。 Usually no needs to decompress. Only decompressing in the case
of low temperature Or low battery power, that can easier start
the engine

。Starts about 3 to 10 minutes to warm up the body operation, especially in cold weather, in this case, please
confirm no air leakage or any squeak and rattle..
。If the buzzer peals after engine starting, immediately, shut off the engine and then check engine lube as the
Buzzer can also monitor and alert leakage
2-2 Driving
。Push the speed shaft fully open, to increase engine
revolutions.(Figure 7)
。Push the drive shaft a bit and then the roller goes forward
slowly ,push again, the roll goes in a normal speed.
The velocity arrange will be within 0~4km/h

Pull shaft backward, the roller goes backward(Figure 8) release

Do not change direction suddenly

Note: Shut off the engine and then confirm no oil leakage and no
other abnormal situation . If any, do not run the roller until
it is repaired.

2-3 Vibration (Figure 16)


。 Pull vibratory shaft to working position, then the roller
starts to vibrate .If taken from Middle the shaft could get
to working position automatically due to spring inside

3.Stop
。Handle drive shaft to Middle ,vibratory shaft to OFF,
Oil pump
speed shaft to startup and then cool
down the roller for 3-5 minutes.(Figure 7.8.16)
。Pull the speed shaft to STOP, then stops the
Roller, switch the key to STOP (Figure 14)

If handling to Middle, battery will discharge, you can not


complete the next start-up
(Buzzer will peal continuously).
。When the roller is stopped, close the fuel switch.
。Lock the parking brake. Rotate the brake bar by 90°
in counterclockwise direction. (Figure 15)

Danger: When stopping the roller on slope, handle drive shaft


to Middle, release brake in the left side of the rear drum
until it is locked, then move the roller.
Ensure brake is locked, handle drive shaft to Middle,
shut off the engine and press the braking scotch

6. Regular inspection and adjustment
Inspection and adjustment must be done after engine shut-off.
6-1 Engine Oil pump
Refer to engine manual to know more information regarding
regular inspections and simple adjustments.
6-2 Roller Body

6-4 Vibration clutch adjustment (Figure 21)
。Push vibratory shaft besides steering wheel to ON.
unscrew the nuts(front, rear)
Ensure vibratory shaft is OFF and the slippage
of pressing plate inside clutch is 3-5mm Slippage
If relative slippage exceeds this value, push
shaft to OFF and rotate nuts in frontend
of cable to fine-tuning to specified values
(3-5mm)

6-5 Battery
Note: Check the battery without any flame which may
lead to explosion caused by battery gas

。Battery repairs
Loose or corroded battery terminals can cause poor
connect. If white powder attached on terminal ,
wash with warm water and then lubricate.
If severe corrosion occurs, use the steel wire brush,
paper, or other tools to get rid of them, then lubricate
。Loading and unloading (Figure 22)
Disassemble from ○ - terminals and start to install from


+ terminal to ○
- terminal.

Note: Pay attention to not mix up (+,-) positive and


negative terminals. If inversely, it can damage
electrical components.

。Battery check (not maintain, just on appearance)


Check on any rust, damage.
If appear white substance (sulfate) inside battery and accretion in downside (paste),replace the battery.

Density meter
This device is to detect the proportion of battery fluid,
if below 1.230 ,please charge.

Fully charged : 1.270~1.290


Charging less than : 1.260 the following

Note: Battery fluid is a hazardous substance. If


the electrolyte splashes to the skins, eyes or
clothing, wash with running water immediately
and see doctors as soon as possible

6-6 Hydraulic system inspection and maintenance
Check (Figure 18, 23) Oil filler
a) Check if the pump and motor are broken.
b) Check if hoses, piping, etc. are loose and leaking
c) Check the hydraulic oil suction / drainage nylon pipe Oil tank
When oil leakage occurs around the brass nut or nut loose,
tighten the nut. If still , change the nylon pipe, nut and Oil pressure gauge
sleeve.
d) Check oil amount or any turbidity and emulsion.
Turbidity indicate suction of air. If so, strengthen oil
pipe, and refill to specific amount
Oil emulsion indicates mix of water. If so, replace
hydraulic oil.
Maintenance.
a) Oil filter replacement (Figure 24)
1st time---approx.25 hours
Later--- every 500 hours
Note: Use the 10u filter paper.
If the suction resistance exceeds 254mm2Hg (oil
temperature 600C), change the filter paper

b) Hydraulic oil replacement


Based on working load, replace every 1,000 and 1,500
hours. Remove the fuel tank drain plug and hose Nut Casing
interface to get rid of used oil, and then fill in
recommended oil with specified amount .
In addition, do not mix up dirt, containment
moisture and etc.
Recommendation-- wear-resisting hydraulic oil
Viscosity ISO VG32 Application in cold places
Hose
ISO VG46 or 56 Application in warm places
( Derleth Shell 46# hydraulic oil, and Aituo
UNIPOWER SQ46) 。Tighten the nut after Nylon hose firmly fits the
