This revision has been brought out to align this standard with the latest IEC standards as well as with the series of the Indian Standards on ac electricity meters which is being revised. The sustained accuracy test has been deleted. 0.3 This standard ( Part II) shall be read in conjunction with IS: 722 (Part I)-1977* which is a necessary adjunct to this standard. Should, however, any deviation exist between Part I and this standard, provisions of the latter shall prevail. 0.4 In the preparation of this standard, considerable assistance has been derived from the following: IEC Pub 521 (1976 ) Class 0°5, 1 and 2 alternating current watthour meters. International Electrotechnical Commission. BS 37: Part 2: 1969 Specification for ac electricity meters: Part 2 Watthour meters, single phase, two wire, whole current, credit type, Class 2°0. British Standards Institution, 0.5 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a’ test, shall be rounded off in accordance with IS :2-1960. The number of significant places retained in the ‘*Specification for ac electricity meters: Part I General requirements and tests ( second revision ). ‘tRules for rounding off numerical values ( revised ). 3 1S: 722 ( Part 11) -1977 rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard. 1. SCOPE 1.1 This standard (Part IL) specifies the requirements and tests for I-phase 2-wire whole current watthour meters of an accuracy class 2. 1.2 It does not apply to 1-phase transformer operated watthour meters. 2, TERMINOLOGY 2.1 For the purpose of this standard, the definitions given in 2 of IS : 722 ( Part I )-1977* shall apply. 3. CLASSIFICATION 3.1 In this standard, the watthour meters are classified as Class 2 [ see 3.1 of IS: 722 ( Part I )-1977* }. 4, RATINGS 4.1 Standard Basic Currents (fy )— The standard basic current shall be 25, 5, 10, 20 and 30A [ see 41 of IS : 722 ( Part I )-1977*]. 4.2 Rated Maximum Currents (Insx)—The rated maximum current shall be 200 percent of the basic current [ see 4.2 of I$: 722 ( Part I)- 1977* J. 4.3 Standard Reference Voltage — The standard reference voltage shall be 240 V [ see 4.3 of IS : 722 ( Part 1 )-1977* J. 5, GENERAL AND CONSTRUCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS 5.1 The relevant provisions of 5 of IS : 722 ( Part I )-1977* shall apply. 6. SPEED OF ROTATION 6.1 The provisions of 6 of IS : 722 ( Part I )-1977* shall apply. 7. PACKING AND MARKING OF METERS 4.1 The relevant provisions of 7 of IS : 722 ( Part I )-1977* shall apply. 8 CONDITIONS FOR TESTS 8.1 The relevant provisions of 8 of IS : 722 ( Part I )-1977* shall apply. *Specification for ac electricity meters: Part I General requirements and tests ( second revision ). 4 IS: 722 ( Part If) - 1977 9.
