Broad Subject: Communication skills

More Specific Topic: Communication Skills among Filipino College
Students in Universities.

Specific Questions:
1. Why is it important to have communication skills in college?
2. What are good examples of communicating?
3. Why some college students are poor at communicating with others?

Answers:
1. In everyday life, communication enables us to connect with others,
express our experiences and needs, and strengthen our relations
with others. In college, communication skill is important because it
also helps us to build strong friendship with others in school, to
have a greater understanding with teachers, and it helps us to build
our confidence.
2. In communicating with others, there are many ways how to
communicate properly such as making eye contact, active listening
to a person you are talking to, being clear, providing feedback, and
many more. Even in a call or phone, it’s important too to have a
good communication. Because without good communication, it can
lead to a misunderstanding or disagreements in conversation.
3. There is still a communication problem for many students between
their teachers and classmates. There are possible reasons why they
don’t communicate properly with others, maybe they are shy, not
confident to ask others or to talk, lack of listening, or maybe they
are afraid to be misunderstood by other people. Because of these
problems, it can lead to their low morale. And they can also feel
confusion or frustration.

Overall Synthesis:
- Communication is one of the most important thing in our daily life,
we can apply it everywhere including at work, schools,
organizations, and many more. With a good communication skill in
college, it can help us to easily understand others, it can create a
strong relationship with teachers and classmates, resolve
problems, and it improves teamwork. Poor communication is a
breakdown caused by a misunderstanding or discrepancy between
what is said and what is understood. Poor communication in
schools can result in confusion, failure in teamworks, and people
will not motivated to work together. To improve your
communication skills, you need to clarify first, think before you
speak, listen and don’t interrupt the person you are talking with,
and speak up properly.
