1. Mark was 34 years old when he died intestate last month. He was survived by his 28-year-old wife,
Rosa. In addition, Mark had a twin brother, John, who is single with no children, and both of his
parents are still alive.

Analysis:
Risa would inherit as his surviving spouse since Risa is the wife of Mark.

2. Ted was 54 years old when he died intestate last month. He was survived by his 38-year-old wife,
Linda and their 16-year-old daughter, Alexandria. In addition, Ted had a twin brother, Turner, who is
single with no children, and both of his parents are still alive.

Analysis:
His wife Linda and their daughter Alexandra are the heirs. Because he had a descendant Alexandria, while
his brother and parents will not inherit.

3. Jose was 44 years old when he died intestate last month. He was survived by his 30-year-old second
wife, Adel and their 6-year-old daughter, Sophia. In addition, Jose had two (2) children from an earlier
marriage.

Analysis:
Adel's surviving wife will receive a smaller portion of the estate, with the remainder going to his three
children, including those from his former marriage.

4. Sebastian was 98 years old when he died intestate last month. His wife, Donna, died 20 years ago
and they never had any children. In addition, his parents died many years ago and his only sister,
Alicia, died 10 years ago. She had never married nor had any children. There are no other surviving
relatives in Sebastian’s family.

Analysis:
If there are no surviving children or spouses, the decedent's possessions are taken by the state.
