The Safe Motherhood program is Department of Health Program which the focal point is

welfare of women all over their pregnancy.The program also involves concerns abiut
family planning contraceptives .The goal of the program guided by the Department of
Health FOURmula One Plus thrust and the Universal Health Care Frame, thus the
National Safe Motherhood Program is committed to provide rational and responsive
policy direction to its local government partners in the delivery of quality maternal and
newborn health services with integrity and accountability using proven and innovative
approaches.It aims also to give Filipino Women knowledgeable guidance and learnings
for better way of health care to do and sheltered pregnancy.According to DOH.Gov.Ph
the safe motherhood program has mission ; Our Mission is for Filipino women to have full
access to health services towards making their pregnancy and childbirth safer.
While the vision is ; In support of the Ambisyon Natin 2040, the National Safe Motherhood
Program envisions a healthy Filipino family where the mother is healthy as the other
members of her family.The program have also Philhealth Benefit Packages which are
Maternity Care Benefit Package and New Born Care Benefit Package which really a
huge help for those parents Filipino that has Philhealth. This program teaches parents to
make sure that they can have the safe pregnancy and increase access to family planning
and maternal health care services.
As nurse in the making I think what I can do to improve the MCN programs and services
in the country is I must experience and involve myself on volunteerism that maybe under
medical missions especially to the area or community that don’t have much access to be
oriented for safe pregnancy to observe and share knowledges with the help of experts.I
can also make informative posts or flyers that contains basic practices and steps that
parents must do during pregnancy for child and mother safety but I’ll make sure that the
post is fact checked.I will also apply the learnings while studying as nurse student
especially knowledges and skills through the help of my school so someday I can initiate,
perform and educate our Filipino women on safer pregnancy for themselves and their
child.
