Introductory Message

Welcome to Empowerment Technology!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of

the Schools Division of Sipalay City and DepEd Regional Office VI – Western
Visayas through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD).
This is developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents, and
responsible adults) in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to
12 Basic Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional material

aimed to guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and
time using the contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist
the learners in acquiring lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for
productivity and employment.

For learning facilitator:

The Subject Area Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the leaching-
learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning Competency
(MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and the
learner. This will be made available to the learners with references/links to
ease the independent learning.

For the learner:

The Subject Area Activity Sheet is developed to help you continue

learning even if you are not in school. This learning material provides you with
meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning. Being an active
learner, carefully read and understand the instructions then perform the
activities and answer the assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator
on the agreed schedule.

II. Background Information for Learners

Online Platform and Application Tools for ICT Content

Development

Online platforms support the daily activities that we have become more
dependent on them in our personal and professional lives. We rely on them to
find information online, buy and sell goods and services, and keep in touch
with our loved ones. Mostly we use them for entertainment, news,
transportation, accommodation, finding jobs and employees, and finding apps
purposes.

The Nature and Purpose of Online Platforms and Application

An online platform is a base of technologies designed to run within an

online environment and provides interactive online services.

To create a good online presentation, webpage, and content you

should learn the basic principles and techniques of design using online
creation tools, platforms, and applications to develop ICT Content.

Types of Online Platforms and Application

Presentation tools

4
A graphic program that allows you to create a slide show presenting
the topic, lecture, demonstrate to enlighten, educate, communicate or
persuade the audience.
 PowerPoint is computer software created by Microsoft which allows the
user to create slides with recordings, narrations, transitions and other
features to present information.
 Prezi is the creation of interactive visuals that appear right alongside
you on screen as you present, for virtual presentations that engage,
inspire, and teach.
 Zoho Show is free online presentation software that lets you create,
collaborate, publish, and broadcast presentations from any device,
quick and easy.

Social Media

Computer-based technology facilitates the sharing of ideas, thought and

information through the building of virtual networks and communities.
Social media is internet-based and gives users quick electronic
communication of content that includes personal information, documents,
videos, and photos. Users engage with social media via computer, tablet or
smartphone via web-based software or web application often utilizing it for
messaging.

 Facebook is a popular free social networking website that allows

registered users to create profiles, upload photos and videos, send
messages and keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues.
 Twitter is a microblogging and social networking service on which users
post and interact with messages known as "tweets".
 Instagram is an online photo-sharing service. It allows you to apply
different types of photo filters to your pictures with a single click, then
shares them with others.

Mapping Tools
It is a computer system that allows you to map, model, query, and analyze large
quantities of data within a single database according to its location.

 Google Maps are web mapping services developed by Google. They

offer satellite imagery, aerial photography, street maps, 360° interactive
panoramic views of streets (Street View), real-time traffic conditions, and
route planning for traveling by foot, car, bicycle, air (in beta) and public
transportation.

5
 Wikimapia is an internet company that provides an open-content
collaborative mapping project. The project implements an interactive
"clickable" web map that utilizes google maps with a geographically
referenced wiki system, to mark and describe all geographical objects in

IV. Activity Proper

Activity 1
In this activity, students will review acrostic poems and compose their
poems on a PowerPoint slide. Then, they illustrate their work with clip art,
word art, or digital images.

Step by Step Directions

1. Have students compose acrostic poems about celebrities. They begin by

writing their famous favorite artist, sports icon, politician, and religious leader
vertically. They then use each letter of their names or as the beginning of a
word or line that describes something about themselves.
2. Have students open PowerPoint and select a blank slide.
3. Students then go to the toolbar and choose Insert and then Text Box.
4. Have students type their poems into the PowerPoint slide.
5. Students can then click on the Insert menu and select the Picture option. They
should choose Clip Art if they would like to select an image from the Microsoft
Clip Gallery. If they are adding their pictures to their slides or images they
have found on the internet, have them select From File and select the folder in
which the picture has been saved. They can also select AutoShapes or
WordArt from the same menu.
6. Save your work CTRL+S for future references.
7. Print your project presentation for your output.
