The author of this book designed and created 20 amulets and talismans that were inspired

by stories, beliefs or ideas. He then wrote a book to detail his process and help others create the

same projects. A list of the materials, tools, inspiration and instruction is given for each piece.

His intent is for the reader to use this information to create the projects in the book and then go a

step further and add their own innovations to the piece.

This book offers details for how to create jewelry with the materials, so that will be very

helpful for my creation. It also shows many images of unique pieces that I can use for

inspiration. Seeing into the mind and creative process of another artist will be very helpful.

Untracht, Oppi. Jewelry Concepts & Technology. Doubleday, 1982.

The book Jewelry Concepts & Technology discusses the message behind jewelry and

why one might wear it and also discusses how to make jewelry. The book has a section on

making jewelry, in which it goes into detail about the tools one will need, what your workshop

should look like and work principles. The book mostly focuses on metal based jewelry and

discusses the techniques for creation.

This article is very helpful because it goes into detail about specific techniques for

jewelry creation, which is exactly what my question was about. There is also plenty of other

information in this book that will be helpful for my project. It goes over a wide range of tools

and materials that can be used for jewelry making, so it will not limit me.
Ramljak, S. (2014). Unique by design: Contemporary Jewelry in the donna schneier collection:

This book is about the contemporary art of Donna Schneir’s collection. The pieces are

from the 1960s and onwards. The book includes images of the works and analizes the purpose

and appeal of jewelry.

Although the article doesn’t directly tell me how to create or design jewelry I picked it

because it provides me with inspiration. I am inspired by a lot of contemporary works that would

be seen in a gallery. There are a lot of pictures in the book and I will flip through when I need

some ideas and I need to be inspired.
