TEN COMMANDMENTS

ON
READING

I. Read with a purpose.

II. Every now and then vary the subject area.
III. Read professional journals and other scholarly publications in your
area of specialization.
IV. Although some newspapers tend to report more on the evil rather
on the good, read the details.
V. Take a book a long with you wherever you go.
VI. While saving time is admittedly a laudable virtue doesn’t read
while you’re driving.
VII. Buy only books which you specifically need to refer to over and
over again.
VIII. Read with a pen or pencil, ready to underscore or annotate your
book- or take notes.
IX. Don’t believe everything that’s printed just because it’s printed.
X. Instead of starting your day with morning paper and ending the
same with the late, late show, read your bible.
