Reflection Paper

In our life, some of us wish to taste foods that they wanted to eat, for me it was pasta,
chocolates, and coffee. Those mentioned foods are the one that would make me feel good, happy
and at the same time energized. The documentary movie entitled "The Sugar Film' by Damon
Gamean made an impact and realization to me as reflect on what I have done Vthese past few
years. The filmmaker illustrates it by doing a 60-day experiment in which he consumes the equivalent
of 40 teaspoons of sugar with the assistance of professionals such as nutritionists and medics.
Compare his vital indicators before and after the trial. Excess sugar consumption has been found to
have a negative impact on the body. In only 60 days, he develops fatty liver and pre-diabetes. In
addition, he interviewed other scientists, dentists, and advocates in this video to gather further data.
The video is not only incredibly educational and topical, but it also raises awareness of the concerns
in the sugar business, as well as how sugar is put into practically every food product in the store,
including those we consider to be "healthy."

Excessive sugar consumption might induce mood swings. The movie even explains that our
brain and body are powered by glucose, therefore when your glucose levels fluctuate, your cognitive
function becomes unsteady. When you consume too much sugar, you experience a sugar rush,
becoming hyper and playful, but this is not the same as happiness; rather, it is a sense of being wild
because your brain releases endorphins, which make you feel happier and calmer, but as soon as the
insulin is released, the glucose is absorbed by the cell, causing a drop in mood and even anxiety, and
the cycle begins, and we crave more sugar. This explains why, when we are stressed or depressed,
we seek sweets such as ice cream, cakes, or milk tea in order to trick our brain by gratifying our
pleasures while diverting our attention away from actual enjoyment or eudaimonia.

Aside from that, it stops us from experiencing eudaimonia since it causes metabolic disorders
such as fatty liver, diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart attacks. Even if the video depicts how
large corporations manipulate us by paying experts to pretend that there is no relationship between
fructose and metabolic illnesses, there are papers that argue otherwise. However, sugar in general
has previously been proven to cause these disorders. And when you have those ailments, you won't
be able to live and do well, which inhibits you from reaching eudaimonia.

It is argued that you chose what food to consume, so the manufacturer is not to blame, which
is true, but sugar or its derivatives are now a frequent element found in foods on the market,
particularly in our nation. Filipinos love sweets, even in sauces and jams, making healthy options
scarce and pricey. Based on my own experience, I attempted to reduce my sugar intake by creating
my own meals and using healthy components, however these healthy products are highly costly and
hard to locate compared to what you can purchase in the supermarket
