Download of data

This instruction is to orientate you concerning the procedures to be observed when making the downlod (*) of
data, in the control module MR (PLD).
(*) - process to charge a control unit with data or software.

CONDITIONS FOR MAKING THE DOWNLOAD

• Skill in the system STAR DIAGNOSIS;
• Have access to FDOK, with authorization X 8. In case this access is not available, request it through the phone
(550XX19) 3725-3457;
Obs.: For further information regarding the system ” FDOK”, see “Technical Information of Parts
Nr.:186/00”. In the same, disregard the reference made to the “Technical Letter XATL - 449/00”.
• Voltage of the vehicle’s battery: 24V - 26V;
• Make sure that the voltage feed of the STAR DIAGNOSIS computer be constant, during the whole process
(battery, outer feed);
• Important:

- Do not execute other programmes in the STAR DIAGNOSIS computer;

- Do not make any on-board diagnosis;

- Do not switch on the vehicle’s engine;

- Do not disconnect the vehicle’s battery;

- The interruption of the process during the download execution could imply in the replacement of the control
module MR (PLD);

- The interruption of the process, between the beginning of the procedures and the beginning of the down-
load, will imply in the return of procedures starting from the first step;

- Erase the memory failures of all modules, after the process has been finished.

PROCEDURES

The procedures presented as follows can be used as a guide line, when realizing the process of download. We call
your attention to the fact that the same, on pretence of exemplification, are based on the vehicles OF/LO/ L98.

1 - Connect the STAR DIAGNOSIS to the vehicle.

2 - Start the “DAS”.

Select the involved “Sector”.
In our example select: “Bus”.
Press the key F 3.

3 - Select the involved vehicle..

In our example select: “Other buses”

4 - Select the menu “Special functions”.

Press the key F 3.

5 - Select the necessary “Special function”.

Press the key F 3.

6 - Select the task to be accomplished.

Press the key F 3.

Attention!
At this moment, important information is presented
about the task, which must be necessarily read before
going on with the process.

7 - Continue with the key F 2.

The system “HHTWIN” is opened.

8 - Select “Download”.
Press the key < Enter>.

9 - Select “Software & Data record”.

Press the key < Enter>.

10 - In case the download is not necessary for the vehi-

cle in question, an informative screen will be pre-
sented, about not being necessary to execute the
same.
In case the download is necessary, one or more
screens, containing relevant information about the
process, will be presented.
After having read this (these) screen(s), press the key
< Enter> until that the screen referring to item 11 is
obtained.

11 - Write down the data presented in the the screen at

right side.
Press the key .

12 - Write down also the data presented in this new

screen.

13 - Insert in the system “FDOK”, as per the description

contained in the “Technical Information of Parts Nr.:
186/00”, the data previously wrote down (of both
previous screens) and obtain a ”Codified Aleatory
Number”, permitting to start the download.

14 - Return to the STAR DIAGNOSIS and press the key <

Enter> in the screen corresponding to the step 11 or
12.

15 - In the screen at right side, press the key < Enter> and
type the “Encrypted Random Number” obtained in the
“FDOK”.
Press the key < Enter>.

16 - Starting from now, the process of download begins.

Depending on the control module software version,
after pressing the key < Enter> in the previous step, it
may be requested to switch off the ignition.
After the download is finished, the message “down-
load finished” will be presented. It will be requested to
switch on the ignition, in case it has been requested to
switch it off at the beginning of the process.

17 - After finishing the process, press the key < Enter>,

erase the failures in the memory and close the
HHTWIN
