(Movement Education in Physical Education During 1961)

In 1800s, movement education started out as a part of dance education.


However it was found its way into physical education and other exercise classes from
the 1960s to 1980s. Movement education is a training with inside the development of
person's motor abilities thru bodily movement. And the aim of movement education is
to improve health and physical performance.

Movement education is an early form of Physical Education emphasizing four


primary concepts: space, effort, and shape. In the video Movement Education in
Physical Education during 1961, it's shows about teaching physical education that
involves problem solving and guided discovery. The Elementary school children
participated the variety activities of the movement principle. Since children are
mischievous and like to move around, so the teacher allow them to freely move. And the
role of a teacher is to guide and observe the children to explore freely in their own, this
idea is under to Liselott Diem. And can also be seen in the video the idea of two
influential person's Francois Delsarte and Rudolf Von Laban. Children makes different
patterns and the combination of all movement. And the most important thing is the
children must know the body awareness and awareness in boundaries.

In the past 1990s and early 2000s, the development of national content standards
for physical education should bring back the essence of movement education by
emphasizing that children should know basic movement concepts and be able to
perform basic movement patterns.
