The atmosphere outside the Lorna

Roberts Hall after our last 7th-grade examination was one to remember. I already had
my plans ready for the summer, it was to play football all day. I was a football fanatic
since birth and bright sunny clear days with no school and no homework was all that I
could wish for. Not that I ever did the homework anyway. The latest football boots
were in the market, they were beautiful. They had different shades of blue with a tint of
pink. I asked my dad for the boots and he replied saying,” Earn them yourself”. I was
astounded. He told me to clean his car for a total month. He leaves home at 9am which
meant that I had to have his car ready by 8:30am. I cried aloud that I had to wake up
early on my vacation too. My alarm clock looked at me with his evil smile. Although, this
was the only way for me to get the boots and I absolutely loved them. After a month of
wiping, h of wiping, scrubbing, and waxing it was finally over. I still remember this day
vividly. My Dad came home with a big brown box and yes, they had those boots. They
looked even lovelier in person; they were perfect. I played with them all day and all
night. I created the best memories of my life with them. I am now in the 10th grade,
16 years by age. I can barely fit into those boots. They are terribly torn and the insoles
smell worse than a rotten egg but I still have them kept in a glass box amongst my
other trophies and medals. They aren’t as gaudy, or beautiful as the others but they are
the best out of all. My Dad taught me a powerful moral in my early years which was to
work hard and achieve goals and that there was no free lunch. Earning those boots
gave me immense satisfaction and it made me feel proud of myself. And that is what
we all crave for, don’t we?
