Not all English and American people


celebrate New Year those who do
celebrate it on the 31st of December.
They usually have New Year’s parties
with their families and friends. At twelve
o’clock they drink a toast to the New
Year.
Parties usually start late in the evening
and continue till early in the morning.

ST. VALENTINE’S DAY

In both countries celebrate


St. Valentine’s Day on the
14th of February.
People make and send special
cards for the ones they love.
Usually you must guess who

English people bake special bins with raisins
and caraway cream for Valentine.
In other countries we give and get flowers
and chocolate on that day.
EASTER

We celebrate Easter at the and of


March or at the beginning of April.
Easter is a religious festival. People
go to church on that day.
In England children get small
presents and chocolate Easter eggs
and rabbits.

release the birds from their
cages on Easter Sunday.
HALLOWEEN

On the 31st of October there


is a nice holiday for children in
England and America.
They wear different funny
costumes and go from house to
house and say “Trick or Treat”.
They collect sweets and cookies.

ghosts live.

Those houses are usually visited on


Halloween.
GUY FAWKES’ DAY

Guy Fawkes’ Day is on the 5th


of November. In 1605 Guy
Fawkes and some conspirators wanted
to blow up the Houses of Parliament
On that day English burn a fire on
the streets and watch fireworks.

The 25th of December is Christmas Day .


English and American people always buy
presents and send greeting cards to their
relatives and friends
On Christmas Eve they decorate
Christmas tree with toys, colored balls and

At night Santa Claus comes he puts


presents under the tree and into
children's stockings.

dinner on Christmas Day. They usually
cook turkey, potatoes, vegetables and
Christmas pudding.
At 5 o’clock the English drink a cup
of tea with Christmas cake.
