Fluid mechanics.

In daily life we carry out actions which involve fluid mechanics, from

the most complex to the most basic such as breathing or taking a shower. “Fluid mechanics

is the study of the laws of motion of fluids and their interactions with bodies and/or

solid objects” (basic physics, nd). Fluid mechanics as we know it today is

a combination of theory and experimentation, originating from an experimental character

fundamental. This first essay on fluid mechanics has the objective of responding to the

question of How is the Mechanics of fluids applied in life? First, to answer that

question, we must know the basics of fluid mechanics.

“A fluid is a body that has the ability to flow, lacking all rigidity and

elasticity. Due to these characteristics, it yields immediately to any force that alters

its shape, adopting the shape of the container that contains it” (Noguera, 2020).

Fluid mechanics is primarily concerned with the properties of fluids, including the

viscosity, density, compressibility, turbulence and thermodynamic behavior. The

Friction is created due to two surfaces rubbing together, and lubrication reduces friction. Mechanics

Fluidics deals primarily with three areas: Pressure: Force applied on liquid/fluid. -

stress: refers to the internal force due to deformation of the solid surface. - speed:

measures the rate of change of length L along path x (the distance traveled). The

pressure gradient (pressure difference) across the fluid channels gives us the direction and

the speed of the flow. In case you see it in a road engineering or building project;

engineers must take this concept into account before proceeding with calculations and design.

For example, consider two pipes connecting 2 buildings, i.e. Fluids can move faster than solid objects

creating friction. evidence of water flowing through

pipes and cavities within the walls. The behavior of fluids occurs whenever

the liquid flows into another substance. This interaction creates waves, eddies, and turbulence, to

name just a few phenomena. All materials expand when heated, but

they compress again when they cool down. address.

“It has been easier for me to find the laws with which the celestial bodies move, those that are

millions of kilometers, to define the laws of movement of water, which runs in front of my

eyes” (Galilei, sf).

Fluid mechanics plays a vital role in science-related fields, including

engineering design for weather forecasting and medicine. Knowing more about the laws of the

nature, we can change and influence the behavior of different types of bodies in

movement within water and air. Since fluid mechanics deals primarily with

the study of the forces acting on liquids and gases during motion.

When water moves through pipes and tubes, friction occurs due to

turbulent movements at different speeds and directions. This leads to a loss of

pressure resulting in a waste of energy. The pressure losses increase as

it decreases the velocity. Therefore, fluid mechanics can explain the phenomena that

occur within the human body involving the blood. For example, blood flows to the

lungs through the arteries and then passes through the capillaries before exiting again. The

fluid movements within the heart determine whether cardiac output and myocardial function

can develop properly.

"The flow of fluids is a common phenomenon, it has various applications within engineering,

astrophysics, meteorology, oceanography, aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, lubrication, engineering

marine, tube machinery, reservoir engineering and combustion engineering” (Serrano,

2016).
