Achievement:

Slop cut steam generator scheme was implemented but found partial blending of slop cut to SR for
penetration regulation during bitumen crude processing difficult and requires puncturing of
RFO/HFO rundown lines(as the common outlet line of slop cut steam generator is provided u/s of
RFO/HFO isolation valves). Necessary P&ID were developed but involves extensive piping upto
battery limit for partly diversion of slop cut to Fuel oil. Hot tapping of the above lines feasibility
found difficult due to difficulty in installing hot tapping machine. Rundown lines releasing for piping
modifications requires extensive flushing, handicap in SR routing will be experienced.

Suggested for utilisation of SR to IFO line for routing of slop cut from slop cut steam generator outlet
to RFO/HFO rundown. The suggested SR to IFO line was not in use since long time. Idea was referred
to management and got line healthiness inspected. After getting inspection clearance, personally
followed for isolation, depressurisation and releasing for minor projects for puncturing of the line
and getting required provisions for routing to RFO/HFO.

By using this old line which is not in use, lot of new piping was saved-to be laid upto east battery
limit, cost and time required for execution of project is saved, and helped in early commissioning of
slop cut steam generation project resulting in SRFT savings of 175 SRFT/month(approx 40 lac/month
or 2 tons of MP steam generation/hr). By this segregation partly diversion of slop cut to bitumen and
fuel oil got possible resulting in production of different grades of bitumen. Without this provision
entire slop cut needs to be routed to VGO or bitumen completely till the completion of piping
modifications of RFO/HFO-which results in quality give away of bitumen or VGO off specification.

Always displayed initiative, positive behaviour, and enthusiasm during everyday work.

Closely followed and led the team for hydrotest of preheat exchangers, shutdown jobs during short
shutdown in April 2017 and hydrocarbon clamps removal and early restoration of unit with safe and
smooth flawless start up. Several trials were done for improving heavy naphtha yield and closely
followed column water washing resulting in improvement of HN yield and elimination of ATF flash
issues.

Improved safety by continuous follow up for completion of step ladder erection at east
battery limit.

Follow up done for new flame arrestors system commissioning resulting in maintenance of
steady vacuum.
