Ms. Vile-

Per Baldwinsville Public School Board Policy 1240, I am submitting my resignation as a member
of the Board of Education effective immediately.

My decision to resign is not based solely on this past weekend's events; however, the catalyst
needed to reinforce my decision. I have been away from the area frequently for work in recent
months, taking many nights and weekends away from my family and affecting my ability to
serve as an active board member. With the tremendous growth of my professional organization,
I will not be able to devote the time necessary to help navigate the district forward as part of this
nine-person board.

The district will face many challenges in the near future due to the demonstrated lack of
professional judgment of Superintendent Thomson's actions during the homecoming game. A
community voice must be available with the necessary time and energy to assist in navigating
these turbulent waters. For myself, my family, and the board of education, stepping down now is
the right move.

These past 14 months have been an eye-opening experience. I have had a chance to see how
the district functions and participate in addressing some of the many routine challenges and
revolving leadership in the district over the last several years. I will forever be humbled by the
Baldwinsville community's support for me and my decision to seek a position on the board.

As I step away, I hope the board continues to focus on topics that matter the most – providing
our educators with stable leadership in the district, educational pathways, and relevant
experiences for our students to succeed beyond their time in the Baldwinsville School District.
Not all of our students will pursue a path to a four-year college; education is ever-evolving. For
our students to have the most enriching experience of their lives, our academic experience
should reflect that.

I wish you and my colleagues all the best.

Regards,

Frank Matus
