Let's talk about computer networks so you guys can achieve your written task.

As we discussed
earlier, when we are connecting computers through some medium in order to share data, that
means we are forming a network. Nowadays, in schools and offices, computers are connected.
Networks are complicated to setup; they need a trained person to fix problems.

The advantages of forming a network are that we can easily communicate with anyone (email
messages, calling, etc. are included in communication) . We can share files and expensive
devices (like if there are 10 computers and 1 printer in the room, all ten computers can use that
one printer). We can save our work on local network storage, so that it can be easily shared with
others or accessed by anyone on the network, and people can work together.

Four things are required for forming a network.

1 network device to send and store messages and files between computers.

2 cables to join devices together.

3 Network Software: As we all know; software is required to send commands to hardware.

There are rules that allow all network parts to work together.

Networks have 2 main types

A Lan (local area network) joins computers in a single building that allows people in the building
to work together. A real-life example of a LAN is a school network . As you guys remember,
during practical I gave you one location to save your files .

WAN (wide area network) is another type of network that joins computers far apart. If any
organization has branches in different cities or countries, use WAN so their employees can work
together in real life. An example of WAN is the internet.

For written work, you guys need to use A4 loose sheets Do your work neatly, as that is your fair
work. We will paste this into your copy. Don't forget to give proper headings and mark the date
on every sheet. It is mandatory to complete the written task as it will be checked by the
coordinator.

Today we will discuss network connections.

As we discussed earlier, to form a network, we need to connect computers through some

medium, so that medium can be wired or wireless.

A wired connection occurs when a computer is connected to a network via a cable.

A network cable connects one socket on the computer to another on the wall.

If you see a socket like the one in the image, it means you're in a LAN building.

Let me show you the picture of the wire connection.

Wireless connections can also be used to connect to a network.

This is also known as Wi - Fi.

To provide a wireless connection, networks employ a device known as a wireless access point
(WAP).

You can connect to a network without using a cable if you are near a WAP.

A hotspot is a location where a wireless connection is available.
