assertions?
Paralinguistic cues refer to elements such as pitch, tempo,
loudness, voice quality, and others. Each person’s vocal cavity,
tongue, and nasal cavities produce voice qualities that are so
individual that law enforcement can use them to develop
voiceprints that are analogous to fingerprints. What makes you
special? by Mariana Atencio from TED talk really has a beautiful
speech and message. As I watched her make her assertion, I
observed that she effectively uses paralinguistic cues and
prosodic features. She made gestures and expressions that
corresponded to the actions she needed. She used eye to eye
contact in her facial expressions to convey genuine emotions
and feelings. In terms of postures, she has confidence to deliver
her speech to her audience. These paralinguistic cues correlate
to everything she says, leading her audience to believe her
assertions. On the other hand, she also used prosodic features.
When she speaks, she delivered her message clearly. The pitch
accent of her voice, the loudness and speech tone really added
to make her speech more persuading. In
conclusion, paralinguistic cues and prosodic features are
essential parts of communication. It assists us to enhance and
make our speech more persuading that makes our audience to
believe in our assertions.
