We would want to convey our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mamta Singh, Professor of

Managerial Communication, CIMP for providing us a chance to contribute to the

society through this project. It gave us the opportunity to come out of our cocoons

of our privileges and witness the lives of young, vibrant yet deprived children who

have the potential to make their mark in the society if they are guided properly.

The project also made us ponder upon our roles as responsible citizens in

channeling such potential and honing their skills and gave us a platform to reach

out to these children and contribute our bit.

We would also like to express our gratitude to the NGO (BE FOR NATION) for

allowing us to be a part of their organization and collaborate with them to improve

the lives of impoverished children.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Be for Nation is an independent, non-profit organisation that works to provide education to

underprivileged children. We came to know about this NGO from one of our group members,

and we got good information about it. Then we thought to go there this NGO see that education

quality. We found that the education quality is good in this NGO, We taught them some basic

moral values and organised a little playful act like singing, and afterward, we distributed

chocolates and candies to boost their morals.  If we support this NGO, we can change the lives of

millions of underprivileged children. Initially, the NGO started with 3 kids back in 2015, and is

now empowering more than 500 plus kids by 2022. Be for Nation is registered in 2019 by the

name Be for Nation. The main aim of BE FOR NATION is to upscale the education among the

society especially for the socially deprived /poor and economically weaker section of the society.

Because we feel that illiteracy is the cause of every social evil so we want to destroy it by giving

them Proper education. That’s why we think will go when we get time and we go there spend

time with children also we will teach them. .Like "Child Sponsorship is one of the best ways to

give children better lives and futures.” We thought we would sponsor a one child education.

INTRODUCTION

According to Swami Vivekananda, "Education was not only collection of information, but

something more meaningful". He felt education should be man-making, life giving, and

character-building. To him, education was an assimilation of noble ideas.

About the organization

BE FOR NATION was started by Mr. Rohit Kumar Singh and his wife. It is an independent,

non-profit organization that works to provide education to underprivileged students, with the

goal of combating poverty and spreading peace and prosperity in society. They started an NGO

with 3 kids in 2015 and have since empowered more than 500 plus kids. The NGO is registered

in 2019 by the name of "BE FOR NATION".

Some facts about primary education in India

 As per the stats, around 29 percent of students in the 6 to 14 age group in the country

receive private education

 The RTE (right to children) act has called for sufficient infrastructure, but less than

5% schools have all the 9 facilities mentioned in the act. Over 30 % schools had no

toilets and over 60 % had no playgrounds.

 As per the studies, among rural children of age 10, half could not read at a basic level,

despite the high overall enrolment rate for primary education

 Some of the reasons cited for the poor quality of education in schools include the

absence of around 25 per cent of teachers every day.

 A study of 188 government-run primary schools found that 59 per cent of the schools

had no drinking water and 89 percent had no toilets.

 The District Information system for education (DISE) data shows that only 6 out 10

schools in the country have access to electricity. Bihar is the worst offender with only

10 % of its schools having access to electricity.

 India now has 1.4 million schools and 7.7 million teachers so that 98 percent of

habitations have a primary school (class I-V) within one kilometer and 92 percent

have an upper primary school (class VI-VIII) within a three-kilometer walking

distance.

 Nationally 29 percent of children drop out before completing five years of primary

school, and 43 percent before finishing upper primary school. High school

completion is only 42 percent. This lands India among the top five nations for out-of-

school children of primary school age, with 1.4 million 6- to 11-year-olds not

attending school.

In many ways schools are not equipped to handle the full population – there is a teacher shortage

of 689,000 teachers in primary schools, only 53 percent of schools have functional girls’ toilets

and 74 percent have access to drinking water

METHODOLOGY

We filled out the application form for the NGO then we get entry in this NGO. After getting the

entry we interacted with the children for the first time through the BE FOR NATION. We

observe that they don’t have basic value education. So we tried to put ourselves in that

environment, so that the children could feel free with us. Then we taught them about basic value

education and how to keep your surroundings clean. From these small initiatives, their

foundation will get stronger and it will help them cope with their classmates after getting
admission to any school. Apart from bookish knowledge, we also tried to teach them the

principles of Mahatma Gandhi.

We interacted with the children on Sept 19 2022 the first meeting, and we were all very happy

because the children treated us as if we were their own family. A special bond is made between

us and the children. On that day, we spent around four hours with the children, and we tried to

connect with them as friends so that they could remove the hesitation inside of them. Aside from

this, we taught them basic moral values and distributed moral value charts. We also provided

them with books and taught them about our nation. Children are small, so at this age they don’t

differentiate between what is good or bad for them, so we educate them to not consume any kind

of narcotic substance. We also organized a little drama and singing contest.

OUR FUTURE PLANS

BE FOR NATION is an NGO that not only focuses on education but also on the

skills development of children who wish to be actors, sportspersons, singers,

dancers, and so on. They help them by providing a great opportunity to do so.  We

wish to continue as volunteers to give some time to those children. But with the

hectic schedule, we may not be able to spend more time with these kids, so in the

future we are planning to take over sponsorship for their education. Our

perspective for those children is very genuine and we really wanted to do

something for them. Hopefully, in the future, we may work in different cities in

Bihar and other states also.

CONCLUSION

The development of our children is a true indicator of our progress. Young

children are now recognized as the first call on the agenda of development, not

only because this is a desirable societal investment in the nation’s future human

resource development, but also because early childhood is both the most
vulnerable and the most crucial period when the foundations are laid for

cumulative life-long learning and human development.

BFN (BE FOR NATION) is a non-profit voluntary organization working on the

child sponsorship/subscription process.
