According to aristotle the highest good or the one thing that everything is supposed to lead to is

uediamonia

So, the highest good in arestotles eyes is happiness.

Happiness is something that has intrinsic(essential/naturally) value, meaning it is desired for its own sake

This raises to the question “ how do we get to the highesr good of happiness

• The way to the highest good is through virtue.

Che lists the ARDINAL VIRTUES which are:

1. Courage-the ability to do something that frightens one:

2. Prudence- discipline oneself by the use of reason.[1] It is classically considered to be a virtue,

and in particular one of the four Cardinal virtues (which are, with the three theological virtues,
part of the 5 virtues).

3. Temperance-the quality of moderation or self-restraint:

4. Justice-fairness or rightness in the treatment of other people

Through these cardinal vitues, we can be led to the highest good

Furthermore there are two kinds of virtue:

1. Intellectual Virtue-acquired through teaching and learning

2. Moral Virtue- acquired through knowledge, choice, will to do so, and taking pleasure with the
virtue.

• Virtues are a “happy medium” of sorts

Reaching a specific virtue means not being on either end of the extreme.

For example, having too much courage is considered being a cocky, a negative virtue, while
having too little is considered being coward, which is also a negative virtue.

Overall, finding the happy medium of cardinal virtue, practicing moral virtues, and acquiring
intellectual virtues are the ways to get to the final goal of the highest good or happiness.
