Writing Task1

The chart represents three categories of the total number of minutes (in billions) of phone calls in the
UK from 1995 to 2002.

Generally speaking, the number of minutes people make local phone calls went up and down. However,
the years from 1995 to 2002 witnessed an increase in the number of minutes people calling others using
international fixed line or mobile in the UK.

According to the chart, the total number of minutes of local phone calls was the highest among the
three categories in which it rose from 72 billion to 90 billion in 1999 before declining to 72 billion in
2002.

In contrast, the number of minutes of people calling others using international fixed line or mobile both
increased in which there was more number of people calling in international lines than calling in Mobiles
from 1995 to 2002. The people using national and international fixed lines to call had a greater initial
value of minutes of 36 billion compared to 3 billion minutes that the people who used mobiles to call.
