DAWAH

PROPHET WAS A DA’EE,

"O' Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) We have sent you as witness, and a
bearer of glad tidings, and a warner. And as one who invites to Allah by His
leave, and as a lamp spreading light." (Qur'an 33:45-46)

BEST PERSON IN SIGHT OF ALLAH IS A DA’EE

Who is better in speech than one who calls (men) to Allah, works righteousness,
and says, "I am of those who bow in Islam"? ( Al Fussilat 41: 33)

DA’EE COMPLETELY DEVOTED TO ALLAH

Say, O Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam): Indeed my Prayer, my

sacrifice, my living and my dying are all purely and solely for Allaah, Lord of all
the Worlds. [al-An'aan 6:162]

DA’EE DOES NOT SEEK REWARD OR PAYMENT

I do not ask you for any reward for conveying this Qur`an. [al-An'aam 6:90]

I do not ask you for any wealth for my admonition. [Hud 11:29]

MESSAGE OF THE DEEN IS FOR ALL NATIONS

….this is no less than a Message for the nations. (6:90)

DOING DA'WAH IS THE INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERY MUSLIM

"You are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'roof
(good) and forbid Al-Munkar (evil), and you believe in Allah." (Qur'an (al Imran
3:110)

DOING DA'WAH IS ALSO COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERY MUSLIM

"Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islam),
enjoining Al-Ma'roof (whatever is good) and forbidding Al-Munkar (whatever is
evil). And it is they who are successful." (Qur'an 3:104)

MUSLIM DUTY TO ADDRESS MUNKAR

Abu-Saeed Al-Khudhri narrated the

Prophet saying: "Anyone among
you who notices some thing evil
should correct it with his own hand,
and if he is not able to do so, then
he should prohibit it with his
tongue, and if he is not able to do
so, he should at least consider it as
bad in his heart, and that is
weakest of faith, i.e. the lowest
degree of faith." (Muslim)

DAWAH WITH WISDOM & GOOD CONDUCT

"O' Muhammad invite Mankind to the way of your lord (Islam) with wisdom, and fair
preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. (Qur'an 16:125).
DA’EE TO CALL WITH SURE KNOWLEDGE

Say, O Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam): This is my way, I call to Allaah

upon certain knowledge - I, and those who follow me. I declare Allaah free and
far removed from all that they associate as partners with Him, and I am free of
those who worship anything else along with Him. [YUsuf 12:108]

DA’EE TO HAVE BEST CONDUCT

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: "The best among you are those who
possess the best manners." (Al-Bukhari/Muslim)

He (Peace be upon him) also said: "I have been sent to bring good behavior to
the highest perfection." (Musnad Ahmad)

The Daa'iah need to show highest amount of patience and self-restraint at the
time of anger and learn how to forget and forgive people in order to excuse those
who treat them badly.

DAWAH THROUGH A CALM SOFT APPROACH (even to worst enemy)

"Go both of you, to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Verily he has transgressed. And speak to
him mildly, perhaps he may accept admonition or fear Allah." (Qur'an 20:43-44)

DA’EE TO REPEL BAD WITH DOING GOOD

"The good deed and the evil deed can not be equal. Repel the evil with one
which is better, then verily he, between whom and you there was enmity (will
become) as though he was a close friend." (Qur'an 41:34)

A DAA'IAH MUST SHOW KINDNESS AND MERCY

The Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: "Whoever is devoid of

kindness and mercy, is devoid of all goodness." (Abu-Dawoud)
DA’EE TO BE PATIENT AT ALL TIME (including when shown hostility)

"And be patient; verily Allah wastes not the reward of the good doers." (Qur'an
11:115)

"O Muhammad! (Peace be upon him) keep patience to what they say and
ignore them in a good way" (Qur'an 73:10)

"And endure you patiently O' Muhammad (Peace be upon him), your patience
is not but from Allah, and grieve not over them (polytheists and pagans), and be
not distressed because of what they plot." (Qur'an 16:127)

Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: "The case of a believer is

wonderful. There is good for him in every thing, and this characteristic is for him
alone. If he experiences something pleasant, he is grateful, but if he comes
across some adversity, Be patient and submissive (to Allah's will) and that is
good for him." (Narrated by Muslim)

A DA’EE SHOULD SHOW FORGIVENESS

"Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish."
(Qur'an 7:199)

DA’EE SHOULD BE HUMBLE AND KIND

"And the (faithful) slaves of the Most Gracious (Allah) are those who walk on the
earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad
words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness." (Qur'an 25:63)
DAWAH OF THE PROPHETS

Nuh (Noah) (Peace be upon him):

"Indeed We sent Noah to his people and he said: O' my people worship Allah. You
have no other god but Him.(None has the right to be worshipped but Allah). I fear
for you the torment of a great Day". (Qur'an 7:59)

He explained his mission and informed them of his responsibility to convey Allah's
message, and did not involve in un-necessary argument.

"I convey unto you the messages of my Lord and give sincere advice to you. And
I know from Allah what you know not". (Qur'an 7:62)

Prophet Hud (Peace be upon him)'s.

"And to Aad people We sent their brother Hud. He said: O' my people worship
Allah. You have no other god to worship; none has the right to be worshipped but
Allah. Will you not fear Allah"? (Qur'an 7:65)

Then he explained about his mission.

"I convey unto you the Messages of my Lord, and I am a trustworthy adviser/well
wisher for you". (Qur'an 7:68)

Prophet Shuaib (Peace be upon him)'s story.

"He said: O' my people! Tell me if I have clear evidence from my Lord and He has
given me a good sustenance from Himself (shall I corrupt it by mixing it with the
unlawfully earned money). I wish not, in contradiction to you, to do that which I
forbid you". (Qur'an 11:88)

"I only desire reform to the best of my power. And my guidance cannot come
except from Allah. In Him I trust and unto him I repent". (Qur'an 11:88)

Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) (Peace be upon him)

"And (remember) Abraham when he said to his people: worship Allah alone, and
fear Him: that is better for you if you did but know. You worship beside Allah only
idols, and you only invent falsehood. Verily, those whom you worship besides
Allah have no power to give you provision. So seek your provision from Allah
alone, and worship Him alone, and be grateful to Him. To Him alone you will be
brought back." (Qur'an 29:16-17)
