1. What do you mean by visual argument?
 Visual argument is a strategy that usually uses images to persuade viewers to believe or
act in a certain way.

2. What historical experience was the basis of Pablo Picasso on his painting, Guernica?
 Pablo Picasso’s painting embodies the essence of cubism. During the Spanish Civil war,
the German air force bombed the town of Guernica, the cultural center of the Basque
region in northern Spain. Hundreds of people were massacred in the deadly air strike.
Two months later, Picasso expressed his righteous anger at the attack in the mural he
titled, Guernica.

3. What symbols in the painting that were mentioned in the text can be easily recognized by
people?
 Art historians believed that Picasso's Guernica was the only masterpiece of
revolutionary art. It is filled with complex imagery and mystical symbols. Many
individuals chose to disregard the prospect that the war would affect them as they were
in denial about its possible impact. This group of people saw Guernica for the first time;
they didn't want to see a painting about war since they wanted to prevent it.

 His encounters in the Pacific in 1943, his visit to a wrecked Berlin in 1945, his tour of

the 1960 West Virginia primary are all examples of his travels around Europe on the eve
of World War II.

3. Which two sentences proved to be an emotional tuning point of his delivery? Why were these
emotionally-powered?
 “Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to
give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the
call to service surround the globe.” These two phrases, which bear honor to their
efforts, would shift the emotional tide of his inauguration; it was the point upon which
his voice took on a passion he hardly ever displayed, bringing the Capitol audience and
even his opponents to tears, according to testimonies at the time.

INTRODUCTION
Pablo Ruiz Picasso, a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and theater designer,
was born in Malaga, Spain, on October 25, 1881. He resided in France for the most of his adult years.
One of the most significant figures in 20th-century Western art is acknowledged to be Pablo Picasso.

Practice Task 3
BODY
In various mediums, such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, sketching, and ceramics, he
created more than 20,000 works of art. The iconic artwork Guernica, which pays tribute to the
municipality of Guernica that was attacked by the German air force, was created in 1937. It shows
contemporaneous occurrences that took place throughout time. The entire argument is what keeps it
so terrifying. The grieving lady, one of the representations of the weeping woman that have been
associated to the figure of a Grieving mother in Guernica who clasps her deceased child to her chest, is
one of the masterpieces that were made by him the same year that Guernica was made. Their complex
and usually turbulent relationship is also thought to be reflected in the painting.
Practice Task 4
CONCLUSION
The town of Guernica experienced tragedy in 1937 when it was bombarded and its residents
were killed. The artworks served as a symbol of the town's experiences during the Spanish Civil War for
future generations.

POST-TEST
As per studies, da Vinci used an optical illusion known as the "Uncatchable Smile" to produce
the unsettling ambiance of the Mona Lisa portrait. Considering that it appears to be realistic, unique,
and was painted by none other than Leonardo da Vinci, the value is fair. Mona Lisa is a portrayal of a
woman who is dressed in Florentine fashion, which was prominent during her time. Her clothing thus
indicates money and class.
