1.

Explain the Following

a. What is meant by the term “allele”?
b. How does dominant allele differ from recessive allele?
c. Determine which allele you have of the following genetic traits:

A. An allele is a variant form of a gene. Some genes have a variety of different forms, which are
located at the same position, or genetic locus, on a chromosome.
B. The difference between the dominant and recessive allele was, dominant allele expressed when at
least one allele of its associated type is present. It is also usually written with the capital letters.
While recessive allele, it is a trait that will be expressed only when both alleles are its associated
type.
C. None of those genetic traits.

2. Describe how DNA encodes the specific protein that results

genetic traits. Demonstrate your knowledge of this process by

using diagrams or paper models.

 As we can see diagram, we will use transcription and translation to encodes the DNA that
resulted to a genetic trait. In transcription, the process is to store the information to pass the genes
DNA to the similar molecule that called RNA inside the cell nucleus. The next step would be
Translation that process through which information encoded in mRNA directs the addition of
Animo acids during protein synthesis.

3. What is mutation? Using diagrams or models created in

question 2, illustrate the effect of a mutation on the genetic
traits.
 Mutation is any change in an organism genetic material OR DNA caused by mutagen. The effect
mutation on genetic traits to damage DNA and can, depending on the ability of an organism to
repair the damage, lead to permanent changes (mutations) in the DNA sequence.

4. Know at least five genetic disorder and tell a story about a

famous person or someone you know who has one of these
orders.
 In genetic disorders we have trisomy 21, turner syndrome, hemophilia A, sickle-cell
anemia, and down syndrome.
 One story that I’ve known that has a genetic disorder was Brina kei Maxino, an assistant
teacher in a pre-school, inspirational speaker, and an advocate.
She is, Brina kei Maximo, a Filipina, and a person with an
intellectual disability, called Down Syndrome. Brina kei Maximo
spent her life proving the world wrong.
She had a doctor who warns her parents that she might not live long
because of her hole in her heart. And a psychologist that tells she
might not finish her grade school because of her intellectual
disability.
But her parents refused to believe them. And Brina proved them
wrong too.
Having a strong believe. Brina graduated in high school in a regular
school as Valedictorian. In 2017, she graduated from college with a
Bachelor of Arts degree, and major in History. She also earned her
Certificate in General Clerical Skills and a Diploma.
Now, she is an assistant teacher to a regular school. And became a
global youth ambassadress in special Olympics. In 2019 she was
handpicked to join the Special Olympics Sargent Shriver
International Global Messenger Class of 2019-2023. Her latest
achievement was being chosen by the United Nations as a UNESCO Brina kei Maximo
Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Champion for Education and
Inclusion.
Brina proves us that God truly made us equal.

5. Is biological heredity the only factor contributing to your

character, i.e., what makes who you are?
 My biological heredity does not contribute to my character. because my character was
shaped/molded on how my environment influenced me or to a specific person that has an
impact to me.
