Checklist

for Signs of Autism in Toddlers


Difficult to engage
• Does she make eye contact easily?
• If you point at something across the room, can he
follow the point?

Repetitive behaviour
• Does she play with the same 1-2 toys in a routine
manner
• Does he do any: pacing, hand-flapping, jumping

Lack of non-verbal communication


• Can she point/gesture to get her needs met?

Difficulty following simple instructions


• When given simple instructions (eg: clap hands,
wave, come here) – can he follow?

Does she have any negative behaviour?


• Screaming, biting, hitting, etc. to get what he
wants?

discuss your concerns with your doctor or developmental
paediatrician.
