Reactors
 General Description:

Part No. 1 Aluminum wound coil

The winding of these reactors are made of single layers / multilayer of

aluminum conductors, in order to achieve a low turn to turn as well as
layer-to-layer voltage stress. Theses coils are specially designed to take
care of the surface voltage stress. It also provides enough mechanical
strength to the coil on radial direction during short circuit force. The
exposed surface of the coils is coated with UV resistive paint and anti
tracking property.

The materials used in the manufacture of these reactors have fire

retardant property and practically does not require any maintenance.
Depending on the impurity / dust on the surface of the coil, the same may
be cleaned by using air blower or by any other dry air as and when
possible. The surface of the coil also can be washed with plain water of
little force.

Part No. 2. 11 KV Solid Core Post Insulators

The insulators are provided to have phase to phase and Phase to Earth
clearance. The insulators used in these reactors of Saravana make.
Part No.3. Clamping Spider

This is made of Aluminum alloy. The spiders are used to hold the coil and
also used as incoming and outgoing terminals.

Handling of the Reactor coils:

1. Immediately on receipt of reactor, please open the box carefully

from top, and all four sides of the wooden box.

2. The coil is covered with the plastic sheets, to be removed.

3. The bottom spider is bolted to the wooden blank to prevent

movement during transit. This is to be removed.

4. Use only nylon rope and NO metal rope to be used for lifting the
coil.

5. Aluminum Spiders are NOT designed for handling the weight of the
reactor; hence no load should come on the spiders.

6. Nylon rope to be put through the bottom of the coil with sufficient
cushioning materials between the rope and the coil, to avoid any
damage to the paint of the coil.
Assembly of Single / Three - phase reactor.

1. The serial numbers are marked in each reactor. It is necessary that

the coil terminals marked as 1U – 2U.

2. The coil of U, V and W are same. Interchanging of this coil will not
affect the performance.

3. These coils were assembled and dismantled at our works before

dispatch. Hence there will not be any problem for assembly at site.

4. In case of Three Phase vertical assembly, please refer assembly / G.

A. drawing mentioned above while assembling.

5. Please note that “R” marked reactor coil to be assembled in the

center in case of vertical assembly.
