By the Grace of

Sri Peetambara Mai

Anant Shri Swami ji Maharaj

Datia (Madhya Pradesh), Bharatvarsh
01
Sri Peetambara Peeth

Sri Peetambara Peeth Madhya Pradesh, the

heart of BharatVarsha has one small but most
talked about ancient and famous city, known as
Datia. Being a kingdom of Bundela kings, Datia
got its name from Dantawaktra; the brother of
Sisupala, a character in Mahabharata. A haven
for Sanskrit scholars, Datia attracted many
hermits. On 9th July 1929, a young hermit halted
here on his way from Jhansi to Gwalior.
02
As no one knew the name of this hermit, people
respectfully addressed him as 'Sri Swami Ji
Maharaj'. While staying in various places, the
hermit entered the premises of Sri
Vanakhandeshwara on 23rd December 1929. He
started his sadhana at Vanakhandeshwara,
which then had only a small room with a wracked
door. The room was cleaned, and its front
veranda was also cleaned and anointed with
cow dung. After practising intense sadhana for
five years, Sri Swami Ji Maharaj established an
idol of Sri Peetamabara Mai in that room in 1992
Vikrami (1935 AD) and the temple came to be
known as Sri Peetamabara Peeth.

Sri Peetambara Sanskrit Mahavidyala

Sri Swami Ji is a lover of Sanskrit. For the sake

of re-establishing the glory of this language,
he has established a Sanskrit school and a
degree college on the premises of Peeth.
Besides receiving free education, school
students are provided free accommodation on
the campus. Peeth has also arranged for
computer and Yoga classes for the overall
development of students.
03
Indus University

objective of making a noteworthy contribution
to the social, economic, and cultural life of our
country. Having faith in the power of education,
the promoters of this university intend to

The three pillars on which this university firmly
stands are – educational wisdom, professional

aimed at nurturing a spirit of entrepreneurship
and social responsibility.

who can constructively contribute to the
society with their authority and ‘out-of-the-

stage to inventive minds, smart enough to
make inventive thoughts and execute them
effectively. To encapsulate, Indus looks
forward to assembling the standard global

05
Centre for Indic Studies
The Centre for Indic Studies has been established
with the stated goal of 'Restoring Dharmic
Narrative of India'.
Unfortunately, India's narrative has long been
controlled by antagonistic forces, giving rise
to a sense of self-alienation and hatred among
Hindus for their own civilization. To challenge
and counter this damaging narrative, CIS is
engaged in the core civilizational issues of our
time, including the following.

Ÿ Clarifying the fundamental difference

between Dharma and Religion.
Ÿ Promoting the dharmic way of knowing
to help us transcend the permanent
binaries of western models such as Left
vs. Right, Individual vs. State, Men vs.
Women and so on.
Ÿ Grounding and re-anchoring our
students in the knowledge traditions and
practices of India.
Ÿ Connecting modern India with the larger
pagan and polytheistic traditions of the
world for spiritual and cultural
renaissance of the world.
Ÿ Promoting sustainable and holistic
solutions for society.

Tradition of India

About the Conference
The vibrant Shakta tradition which is spread
across the length and breadth of Bharata, is a
source of immense energy that drives
Bharata. The Centre for Indic Studies, Indus
University, Ahmedabad and Sri Peetambara
Peeth Madhya Pradesh are jointly organising a
seminar to learn and disseminate the
teachings and to pay homage to these great
Saktacharyas of Bharatvarsha.

The feminine is interpreted as the Shakti. The

mother is worshipped as Parama Brahma. This
tradition is Shakta Mata of Bharatvarsha.
Since the Vedic period, Shakti is considered
the supreme in Bharatvarsha. Her sadhana is
explained in all the Vedic texts. All Indic
traditions such as Shaiva, Vaishnava etc. and
religions like Buddhism, Jainism and even
Sikhism have high regard for the Shakti. They
have not only accepted the existence of Shakti
but they have called their divine forms
inseparable from her and inaccessible without
her. This has led to the great Atmanusandhana
where the seekers have tried to explore the
Shakti and have become successful because
of the great Gurus.

08
The base of this wide and deeply rooted
sadhana of Shakti are innumerable Shakta
Gurus. Our Gurudeva Shri Swami Ji Maharaja
Datia, and then right from Bhagavana Shiva,
Vishnu and Brahma to Indra and sages like
Durvasa, Agastyaand Lopamudra up to Siddha
Matsyendranatha, Guru Gorakshanatha,
Govindapada, Adi Shankara, Bhatta Kallatta,
Abhinavagupta, Aghoreshwara Baba
Kinarama Ji, Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Shri
Shri Vishuddhananda Paramahansa Deva,
Aghoreshvara Bhagavana Rama Ji, Swami
Lakshmana Ji and Gopinatha Kaviraja there
are many who kindled the knowledge and thus
made the path of Shakta sadhana visible so
that we may easily tread on this path. They not
only experienced the high state of Shakti
tattva, but also set examples through their
lives so that people like us may learn
something from them.

Further, they composed various scriptures so

that we may learn from them. Their temples
and sadhana places are pilgrims of the entire
Shakta sadhaka community. Their message
for masses are guidelines to live a guileless
and devoted life for entire humanity. Their
teachings are the supreme way to live our lives
as humans.
