5. Raymond, Annie, Liza, and Jack go to Japan for holiday. They stay in the same hotel but
their rooms are all in the different floors. Read the following stories and find the floor of
Raymond's room.
(a) Liza stays 4 floors below Annie’s room.

(c) Liza stays on the 10th floor
(d) Jack stays 6 floors above Annie’s room

1. The number of Dahlia’s beads is 22 – 7 = 15 beads.
Kate will get 50 – 22 – 15 = 13 beads.

2. Lions have 4 feet each, so the total is 4 × 4 = 16 feet.

Ducks have 2 feet each, so the total is 3 × 2 = 6 feet.
Horses have 4 feet each, so the total is 4 × 2 = 8 feet.
Fish have no feet.
Altogether, there are 16 + 6 + 8 = 30 feet.

3. In 8 days, Mr. Davis uses 2 × 8 = 16 tomatoes, so the remainder is 40 – 16 = 24 tomatoes.

In 8 days, Mr. Davis uses 3 × 8 = 24 cucumbers, so the remainder is 40 – 24 = 16 cucumbers.
The difference between the remaining tomatoes and cucumbers is 24 – 16 = 8 pieces

4. 6 marbles are in one group 6 pieces × 6 groups = 36 pieces plus 1 piece. There are 3 white
marbles in one group, 3 pieces × 6 groups = 18 pieces plus 1 piece, thus there are 19 while
marbles until the 37th position.

5. Analyze all the information.

(c) Liza stays on the 10th floor
(a) Liza stays 4 floors below Annie’s room.
From the above information, Annie’s room is on 10 + 4 = 14th floor.

(d) Jack stays 6 floors above Annie’s room.

The above information means that Jack’s room is on 14 + 6 = 20th floor.

(b) Raymond stays 1 floor below Jack’s room.

Raymond’s room is on 20 – 1 = 19th floor.
