My Dear Boys,
Always remember that it is enough for a boy to enter into a School of Don Bosco for the
Blessed Virgin to take him immediately under her mantle.
• Entrust everything to Jesus in Blessed Sacrament and Mary Help of Christians and
you will see what miracles are all about.
• I do not desire anything else from the youth than they become good, and that they
are always cheerful. By all means, live with the greatest cheerfulness at all times,
provided you do not sin.
• When I see all the boys busily playing, I am certain that the devil can do his best but
will not succeed.
• To do good, you must have courage, be ready to suffer any mortification, never
humiliate anyone, always be lovable.
• May your heart be always flavored with kindness: kindness in talking and in acting.
May your every word be marked with charity: sweetness in speaking, in working,
and in advising for everything and for everybody.
• Do good to all, evil to no one. Do not postpone till tomorrow what you can do today,
because, perhaps, tomorrow you will have no more time.
• Work for the Lord. Paradise pays everything. Do your best, and then the Lord will do
the rest.
• Laziness and modesty cannot stay together. By avoiding laziness you will overcome
temptations against modesty.
• The first method to educate well is to make good confessions and communions.
• Place yourself in the hands of God and Mary with all trust; pray and everything will
be all right.
My dear children, I love you with all my heart, and it is enough for you to be young for me to
love you so much.

Vision-Mission of Don Bosco Schools and Training Centers
(Philippine-North Province)
We, The Educative-Pastoral Communities (EPC) of the Don Bosco Schools and training
centers of the North Province, envision the young as servant-leaders in the Church of the
Poor.
Faithful to the charism of St. John Bosco, we educate and evangelize the young, particularly
the marginalized. We enable them to use their power of choice and develop their giftedness
towards their social integration and participation in social transformation.
To realize our vision, we journey with the young in an environment permeated by the
Preventive System and characterized by a strong commitment to excellence and perpetual
learning, collaboration and networking.

SONG AT THE PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS
P: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread
we offer you: fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life.
A: BLESSED BE GOD FOREVER.
P: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the wine
we offer you: fruit of the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink.
A: BLESSED BE GOD FOREVER.
P: Pray, brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.
A: MAY THE LORD ACCEPT THE SACRIFICE AT YOUR HANDS FOR THE PRAISE AND
GLORY OF HIS NAME, FOR OUR GOOD, AND THE GOOD OF ALL HIS HOLY CHURCH.
PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS
P: … We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.
A: AMEN
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II
P: The Lord be with you
A: AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT.
P: Lift up your hearts
A: WE LIFT THEM UP TO THE LORD.
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
A: IT IS RIGHT AND JUST.
P: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give You thanks,
Father most holy, through Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, your Word through whom You made all
things, whom You sent as our Savior and born of the Virgin. Fulfilling Your will and gaining for You a
holy people, he stretched out his hands as he endured his Passion, so as to break the bonds of
death and manifest the resurrection. And so, with Angels and all the Saints we declare Your glory, as
with one voice, we acclaim:
A: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the
highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
CONSECRATION
P: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness make holy, therefore these gifts, we pray, by
sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body and +
Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread and, giving thanks,
broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take this, all of you, and eat of it; for this is my body which will be given up for you.
In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more you thanks, he gave it
to his disciples, saying:
Take this, all of you, and drink from it; for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new
and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the
forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith:
A: (i) We proclaim Your death, O Lord, and profess Your Resurrection until You come again.
(ii) When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim Your death, O Lord, until You
come again.
(iii) Save us, Savior of the world, for by Your Cross and Resurrection, You have set us
free.
P: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of His Death and Resurrection, we offer You, Lord, the
Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that You have held us worthy to be in Your
presence and minister to You. Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we
may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity,
together with Francis our Pope and N… our Bishop and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers
and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in Your
mercy: welcome them into the light of Your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed
Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased You
throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify You
through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Through Him, and with Him, and in Him, O God, almighty Father, in
the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is Yours, for ever and ever.
A: AMEN
COMMUNION RITE
P: At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
A: Our Father, who art in heaven; hollowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be
done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil.
P: Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of
Your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
A: FOR THE KINGDOM THE POWER AND THE GLORY ARE YOURS NOW AND FOREVER.
P: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to Your Apostles: Peace I leave You, my peace I give You; look not
on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance
with Your will. Who live and reign forever and ever.
A: AMEN
P: The peace of the Lord be with you always.
A: AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT.
P: Let us offer each other a sign of peace.
(Giving of a sign of peace to those around)

LAMB OF GOD, YOU TAKE AWAY THE SINS OF THE WORLD, GRANT US PEACE.
P: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those
called to the supper of the Lamb.
A: LORD, I AM NOT WORTHY THAT YOU SHOULD ENTER UNDER MY ROOF, BUT ONLY SAY
THE WORD AND MY SOUL SHALL BE HEALED.
(The priest would distribute the consecrated hosts to the people saying, “The Body of Christ”. The one
who receives says, “AMEN”.)

Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
All: Amen.
Leader: Let us adore the Almighty God and thank Him for this new day.
All: I adore You, O my God and I love You with my whole heart. I thank You for having created
me, made me a Christian and watched over me during the past night. I offer You all I will
do today. May they all be according to Your Will and for Your greater glory. Keep me from
sin and from every evil. May Your grace be always with me and with all those who are
dear to me. Amen.
Leader: Let us pray the Act of Faith.
All: O my God, I firmly believe that You are one God in three divine Persons, Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that Your divine Son became man and died for our
sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the
truths which the holy Catholic Church teaches, because You revealed them, who can
neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen.
Leader: Let us pray the Act of Hope.
All: O my God, relying on Your infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon
of my sins, the help of Your grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus
Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
Leader: Let us pray the Act of Love
All: O my God, I love You above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because You
are all good and worthy of all my love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of You. I
forgive all who have injured me and I ask pardon of all whom I have injured. Amen.
Leader: Let us listen to God’s message for us today.
[Gospel Reading of the day followed by a short silence.]
Leader: Let us invoke the assistance of the Blessed Virgin.
All: We fly to Your patronage, O Holy Mother of God, despise not our petitions in our
necessities, but deliver us from all dangers, O ever glorious and Blessed Virgin.
Leader: Let us implore the protection of our Guardian Angel.
All: O my good angel, whom God has appointed to be my guardian, enlighten and
protect, direct and govern me who have been entrusted to You by the Divine Mercy.
Amen.

All: Amen.

Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Leader: Dear Lord, we thank You for this day. Help us to start it with a new attitude and plenty of
gratitude.
All: Empower us to make the best of this day and give our best in all that is put before

Leader: Trusting in God’s love, let us ask for His gracious blessing. And so we pray:
A: Bless my head so that from all of my thoughts come forth the well of my being to fill
me with grace and peace.
B: Bless my eyes that I might see Your presence and Your Providence clearly.
A: Bless my ears that I might hear the cry of the poor all around me and the whisper of
Your word.
B: Bless my lips that I might proclaim the Good News of Your mission and the meaning of
Jesus Christ.
A: Bless my hands to hold and heal the many lives that are broken to bring hope into
hopelessness.
B: Bless my feet to walk in Your ways, to run and never grow weary; to stand for justice
unafraid.
A: Bless my heart with warmth and compassion and a genuine generosity towards all
who are in need.
Leader: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
All: As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
[Gospel Reading of the day followed by short silence.]
Leader: Before You, Giver of Life, we come in faith, in search of knowledge, truth and wholeness.
Be with us, hear us, we pray:
All: Our Father who art in heaven…
Leader: Let us seek the assistance of our Blessed Mother.
All: Hail Mary, full of grace…
Prayer for the Family
Leader: Let us pray for all families, most especially our very own.
All: Lord God, from You every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. Father,
You are Love and Life. Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, born of a woman, and
through the Holy Spirit, fountain of divine charity, grant that every family on earth
may become for each successive generation a true shrine of life and love. Grant that Your
grace may guide the thoughts and actions of husbands and wives for the good of their
families and of all the families in the world. Grant that the young may find in the family
CY | 19
solid support for their human dignity and for their growth in truth and love. Grant
that love, strengthened by the grace of the sacrament of marriage, may prove mightier
than all the weakness and trials through which our families sometimes pass. Through
the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that the Church may fruitfully
carry out her worldwide mission in the family and through the family. We ask this
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Leader: In the presence of a God who called the stars into being,
All: We stand in trust: be with us, hear us, we pray.
MORNING PRAYER 3
Leader: Lord, open my lips.
All: And my mouth shall declare your praise. [Make the Sign of the Cross + on your
mouth.]
Leader: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
All: As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Psalm 147:1-11
Leader: Psalm 147 is a Psalm that expresses God’s wisdom and kindness. Let us therefore pray this
Psalm with grateful hearts and with the thought of God’s unconditional love for all.
Leader: Let us joyfully praise…
All: …the Lord, our God.
A: Praise the Lord for He is good; sing to our God for He is loving; to Him our praise is
due.
B: The Lord builds up Jerusalem and brings back Israel’s exiles; He heals the broken-hearted,
He binds up all their wounds. He fixes the number of the stars: he calls each one by its
name.
A: Our Lord is great and Almighty; His wisdom can never be measured. The Lord raises
the lowly; He humbles the wicked to the dust. O sing to the Lord, giving thanks; sing
psalms to our God with the harp.
B: He covers the heavens with clouds, he prepares the rain for the earth; making mountains
sprout with grass and with plants to serve man’s needs. He provides the beasts with their
food and young ravens that call upon Him.
A: His delight is not in horses nor His pleasures in warriors’ strength. The Lord delights
in those who revere Him, in those who wait for His love.
Leader: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
All: As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
CY | 20
All: Let us joyfully praise the Lord, our God.
[Gospel Reading of the day followed by short silence.]
Prayer for Priests
Leader: As we say this prayer, we beg Jesus on behalf of the whole Church:
All: Grant it love and the light of Your Spirit and give power to the words of priests so
that hardened hearts might be brought to repentance and return to You, O Lord. Lord,
give us holy priests; You yourself maintain them in holiness. O divine and Great
High Priest, may the power of Your mercy accompany them everywhere and protect
them from the devil’s traps and snares which are continually being set for the souls of
priests. May the power of Your mercy, O Lord, shatter and bring to naught all that
might tarnish the sanctity of priests, for You can do all things. I ask You, Jesus, for a
special blessing and for light for the priests before whom I will make my confessions
throughout my lifetime. Amen.
Leader: May the Lord bless us, protect us from evil and bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen.
MORNING PRAYER 4
Leader: God, come to my assistance.
All: O Lord, make haste to help me. [Make the sign of the cross +.]
Leader: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
All: As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Psalm 33
To be recited alternately:
Leader: Psalm 33 is a song of Praise for God’s continuous care. Let us therefore pray this Psalm,
praising God for all the good things we receive from Him and that He may continue letting us
feel His love for us all.
Leader: The loyal heart…
All: …must praise the Lord.
A: Ring out your joy to the Lord, O, You just; for praise is fitting for loyal hearts.
B: Give thanks to the Lord upon the harp, with a ten-stringed lute sing Him songs. O sing Him a song
that is new. Play loudly with all Your skill.
A: For the Word of the Lord is faithful and all His works to be trusted. The Lord loves
justice and right and fills the earth with His love.
B: By His word, the heavens were made; by the breath of His mouth, all the stars. He collects
the waves of the oceans; He stores up the depths of the sea.
A: He frustrates the designs of the nations; He defeats the plans of the people. His own
CY | 21
design shall stand forever, the plans of His heart from age to age.
B: A king is not saved by His army, nor a warrior preserved by His strength. A vain hope for
safety is the horse; despite its power it cannot save.
A: The Lord looks on those who revere Him, on those who hope in His love, to rescue
their souls from death, to keep them alive in famine.
B: Our soul is waiting for the Lord. The Lord is our help and our shield. In him do our hearts find
joy. We trust in His Holy Name.
A: May Your love be upon us, O Lord, as we place all our hope in You.
Leader: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
All: As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
All: The loyal heart must praise the Lord.
[Gospel Reading of the day followed by short silence.]
Prayer for Vocations
Leader: As we say this prayer, let us remember all those who are discerning God’s will, most
especially our brothers (and sisters) among us.
All: O Jesus, Divine Shepherd of souls, who called the Apostles to become fishers of
men, now touch the ardent and generous hearts of young people and make them Your
followers and ministers. Let them share Your thirst for that universal redemption for
which You daily renew Your sacrifice upon the altar. O Lord Jesus, always living to
make intercession for us, extend our horizons to the entire world, where many people
long for the light of truth and the warmth of love, so that by answering Your call, many
people may prolong Your mission on earth, edify Your Mystical Body, the Church, and
become the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Amen.
Leader: May the Lord bless us, protect us from evil and bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen.
MORNING PRAYER 5
Leader: Let us begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross, the symbol of God’s great love for us.
+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Psalm 51
To be recited alternately:
Leader: God is our Father. He listens to us. With faith in His love and mercy, let us earnestly pray
Psalm 51, asking God to cleanse us of our sins and to create a pure heart in each and every
one of us. And so we pray:
A: Have mercy on me, God, in Your kindness. In Your compassion, blot out my offense.
CY | 22
O wash me more and more from my guilt and cleanse me from my sin.
B: My offenses truly I know them; my sin is always before me. Against You, You alone, have I
sinned; what is evil in Your sight I have done.
A: That You may be justified when You give sentence and be without reproach when You
judge. O see, in guilt I was born, a sinner was I conceived.
B: Indeed You love truth in the heart; then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom. O purify
me, then I shall be clean; O wash me, I shall be whiter than snow.
A: Make me hear rejoicing and gladness, that the bones You have crushed may revive.
From my sins turn away Your face and blot out all my guilt.
B: A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away
from Your presence, nor deprive me of Your Holy Spirit.
A: Give me again the joy of Your help; with a spirit of fervor sustain me, that I may teach
transgressors Your ways and sinners may return to You.
B: O rescue me, God, my helper, and my tongue shall ring out Your goodness. O Lord, open my
lips and my mouth shall declare Your praise.
A: For in sacrifice You take no delight, burnt offering from me You would refuse, my
sacrifice, a contrite spirit. A humbled, contrite heart You will not spurn.
B: In Your goodness, show favor to Zion: rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Then You will be
pleased with lawful sacrifice, holocausts offered on Your altar.
Leader: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
All: As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

your protection, implored your help and sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with
this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand,
sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your
mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

But with you is found forgiveness: for this we revere you.
Choir 1: My soul is waiting for the Lord. I count on his word.

(PRAYER WRITTEN BY DON BOSCO)

loving of all mothers forget me?

especially in all my temptations. I ask for your unceasing help for all who are now suffering. Help
the weak, cure the sick, convert sinners. Grant through your intercessions many vocations to

MORNING PRAYER 8 – PRAYER OF LOVE
Leader: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
ALL: Amen.
Leader: Let us pray the hymn of LOVE. (1 Cor 13, 1-13)
Choir 1: If I speak in human and angelic tongue, but do not have love, I am a resounding gong or
a clashing cymbal.
Choir 2: And if I have the gift of prophecy and comprehend all mysteries and all knowledge;
if I have all faith so as to move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.
Choir 1: If I give away everything I own, and if I hand my body over so that I may boast
but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Choir 2: Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, love is not pompous, it is not inflated.
Choir 1: It is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-temper, it does not brood
over injury,
Choir 2: It does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.
Choir 1: It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never
fails.
Choir 2: If there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; if tongues, they will cease;
if knowledge, it will be brought to nothing.
Choir 1: For we know partially and we prophesy partially but when the perfect comes, the partial
will pass away.
Choir 2: So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

poor banished children of Eve; to you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this
valley of tears. Turn then, O most gracious Advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us, and after
this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus! O clement, O loving, O sweet
Virgin Mary!

Leader: Divine Jesus, You have said, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock
and it shall be opened to you.
All: Behold me, filled with a lively faith and confidence in the promises dictated by Your
Sacred Heart and pronounced by Your adorable lips.
Leader: To whom can we turn if not to You, whose heart is the source of all graces and merits? Where
should we seek if not in the treasure which contains all the riches of Your kindness and mercy?
Where must we knock if not at the door through which God gives Himself to us and through
which we go to God.
All: I have recourse to You, Heart of Jesus in You I find consolation when afflicted,
protection when persecuted, strength when burdened with trials, and light in doubt
and darkness.
Leader: Dear Jesus, we firmly believe that You can grant us the grace we implore, even though it should
require a miracle. You have only to will it and our prayers will be granted. We admit that we are
most unworthy to receive Your favors, but this is not a reason for us to be discouraged.
All: You are the God of mercy, and You will not refuse a contrite heart. Cast upon me a
look of mercy, I beg You and Your kind heart will find in my miseries and weaknesses a
reason for granting my prayer.
Leader: Sacred Heart, whatever may be Your decision with regard our my request, we will never stop
adoring, loving, praising and serving You. Our Lord Jesus, be pleased to accept this our act of
perfect resignation to the decrees of Your adorable Heart, which we sincerely desire may be
fulfilled by us and all Your creatures forever.
All: Sacred Heart of Jesus, I know that there is but one thing impossible to You, to be
without pity for those who are suffering or in distress. Look upon me I beg You, Lord
Jesus, and grant me the grace for which I humbly implore You through the Immaculate
Heart of Your most sorrowful Mother. You entrusted me to Her as Her child, and Her
prayers are all-powerful with You. Amen.
Leader: We now lift up our morning offerings to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
All: O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys
and sufferings of this day, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the
world. I offer them for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart: the salvation of souls,
reparation for sin and the reunion of all Christians. I offer them for the intentions of
our bishops and of all apostles of Prayer. Amen.
Leader: Sacred Heart of Jesus...
All: Have mercy on us.
Leader: Mary, Help of Christians.
All: Pray for us. + In the name…
CY | 29
Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
L: Let us pray
A: O glorious Joseph! / Who concealed your incomparable and regal dignity of custodian of Jesus. / and
of the Virgin Mary / under the humble appearance of a craftsman / and provided for them with your work, /
protect with loving power your sons,/ especially entrusted to you. You know their anxieties and sufferings,
/ because you yourself experienced them at the side of Jesus and his mother, / do not allow them, /
oppressed by so many worries, / to forget the purpose for which they were created by God. / Do not allow
the seeds of distrust to take hold of their immortal souls. / Remind all the workers that in the fields, / in
factories / in mines / and in scientific laboratories, / they are not working, / rejoicing, / or suffering alone, /
but at their side is Jesus. / With Mary, his mother/ and ours/ to sustain them, / to dry the sweat of their
brow, / giving value to their toil. / Teach them to turn work in to a very high instrument of sanctification / as
you did. Amen.
L: Let us pause for a while and ask St. Joseph to pray for our personal intentions.
(Everyone is to pray silently to St. Joseph for personal intention.)
[Gospel Reading of the day or any Scripture passage pertaining to St. Joseph followed by short silence.]

A: Our Father…
Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Leader: Today is the 2nd day of the month. Let us commemorate the second canonized Filipino saint, St.
Pedro Calungsod as we pray:
All: San Pedro Calungsod, student, catechist, young migrant, missionary, faithful friend,
martyr, you inspire us by your fidelity in times of adversity; by your courage in teaching
the faith in the midst of hostility; and by your love in shedding your blood for the sake of
the Gospel. Make our troubles your own (Pause - here mention your request) and intercede
for us before the throne of Mercy and Grace so that, as we experience the help of
heaven, we may be encouraged to live and proclaim the Gospel here on earth. Amen.
[Gospel Reading of the day or an excerpt from the life of St. Pedro Calungsod]
Leader: Confident in the love of God and filled with hope, we dare to say:
All: Our Father who art in heaven…

All: Hail Mary…
Leader: Let us raise our voices to the Triune God, that like St. Pedro Calungsod, we may live and
proclaim the Gospel wherever we go and in whatever we do:
All: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit…
Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.

Leader: In his missionary mandate, Jesus said,
All: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded
you”. (Mt 28, 19-20)
Leader: Don Bosco believed in this mission of the Church to spread the good news and bring it to the
young people of every nation. In his letter to the Rector Major and the whole Salesian Family
(on the occasion of the Bicentenary of the Birth of Saint John Bosco), Pope Francis described
Don Bosco:
All: He is a man * who surrendered himself totally to God and to the young * in one and the same
act of love * which led him to ‘go out’ * and take courageous decisions: * the decision to devote
himself to poor youth * with the aim of giving rise * to a vast movement of poor people for poor
people; * and the decision to extend this service * beyond the boundaries of language, race,
culture and religion, * thanks to his tireless missionary impulse.”
Leader: In pursuit of fulfilling the same mission, Pope Francis encourages us with his word:
All: “Everyone should be able to experience * the joy of being loved by God,* the joy of salvation. * It
is a gift * that one cannot keep to oneself, * but is to be shared. * The proclamation of the
Gospel * is part of being disciples of Christ * and it is a constant commitment * that animates the
whole life of the Church.”
Leader: We need to take part in the mission of the Church because we belong to the Church. With
commitment in our hearts, let us now tell the Lord our Prayer for Missions:
All: God, Our Father, you call us all to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth.
Inspire us to be missionaries, spreading Your love to everyone.
We pray for missionaries everywhere. Immersed with love and humility among the people to
whom they are sent. May they work with faith and courage for the patient evangelization of
Your people.
We pray for Salesian missionaries. May they spread Your word and do Your will by applying
reason, religion and loving kindness, especially to the young and the poor.
We pray for the people in the missions. May they welcome Your Good News and answer Your
call. We pray for ourselves. Following Your Son’s example of dwelling among us and drawing us
closer to You, may we generously offer our lives as missionaries. May our words, works and
witnessing promote your Kingdom here on earth. With Mary, the first Evangelizer and our
mother and model, may we always realize that every place is a mission land and every one of
us is a missionary disciple of Christ. We ask this through Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
Leader: Sts. Aloysius Versiglia and Callistus Caravario, our Salesian missionary martyrs.
All: Pray for us.

Christians. + In the name of the Father ….
All: Amen.
Magnificat
To be recited alternately:
Leader: Mary has always been Christ’s and everyone else’s Mother. She is also the woman whom
we cry out to for help. With these thoughts in mind, let us altogether praise the Lord through
Mary’s intercession and receive the grace necessary to fulfill God’s will in our life. And so we
pray as our Blessed Mother prayed:
A: My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for
he has looked with favor on his lowly servant
B: From this day all generations will call me blessed: the almighty has done great things for
me and holy is His name.
A: He has mercy on those who fear Him in every generation
B: He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
A: He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.
B: He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.
A: He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of
mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.
Leader: Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
All: As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Guide our footsteps, lest we go astray.
*Sinful and erring, thy Children on Thee call:
Virgin, most powerful, pray for us all,
Virgin, most powerful pray for us all. (repeat *)
Priest: May the blessing of the Almighty God the Father +, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit
descend upon you and remain with you forever.
All: Amen.
Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Leader: Today is the 28th day of the month. Let us commemorate our first Filipino saint, St.
Lorenzo Ruiz. [The assembly may sing the song: “San Lorenzo de Manila” - Optional]
[Gospel Reading of the day or an excerpt from the life of St. Lorenzo Ruiz]
Leader: Confident in God’s mercy and filled with hope, we dare to say:
All: Our Father who art in heaven…
Leader: As the Blessed Mother interceded for St. Lorenzo Ruiz, let us also ask for her motherly care and
protection. And so we pray:
CY | 34
All: Hail Mary…
Leader: Let us raise our voices to the Triune God, that like St. Lorenzo Ruiz, we may find courage in
living and proclaiming our faith:
All: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit…
[Gospel Reading of the day or a Special Reading from the life of St. John Bosco]
Leader: Let us pray.
All: Lord God, you have given us St. John Bosco to be the Father and Teacher of
Youth. Grant that we may follow him in every direction he may lead us to. May we trust in
what he has planned for our generation. Grant that we may follow what He has taught us
through the Preventive System. Amen.
AFTERNOON PRAYERS
CY | 35
AFTERNOON PRAYER 1
Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen
Leader: Everyday we experience God’s love, let us adore and thank Him.
All: I adore You, O my God and I love You with my whole heart. I thank You for having
created me, made me a Christian and preserved me during this day. Forgive me for having
offended You and if I have done any good this day, accept it. Watch over me during
my sleep and free me from all evil. May Your grace be always with me and with all those
who are dear to me. Amen.
Leader: Let us now pause for a few moments and recall what we have done today, and ask
ourselves whether we have pleased God and our brothers. (Pause for moments of silence)
Let us now ask God’s forgiveness for the wrong things we did today:
All: O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins
because I fear the loss of heaven and the pains of hell. But most of all because I
offended You, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve
with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life.
Amen.
Leader: To God who readily forgives our sins, let us lovingly pray:
All: Our Father who art in heaven…
Leader: For guidance and protection, Don Bosco encouraged us to pray to our Blessed Mother
three times before we end the day. And so we pray:
All: Dear Mother Mary, ever a Virgin, help me to save my soul. Hail Mary… (3x)
Leader: May the Lord have mercy on us.
All: May the maternal love of Mary watch over us in our ways.
Leader: Mary, Help of Christians.
All: Pray for us. + In the name of the Father….
AFTERNOON PRAYER 2
Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen
Leader: Life is God’s gift to us. It is not the number of days we spend that makes life meaningful
but how we live our lives in each single day.
All: To be alive only for our appetite, pleasure, pride, money- making and not for goodness
and kindness, love of history, poetry, music, flowers, stars, God and eternal hopes, it is
to be all but dead.
Leader: There are some things that God wants us to be dead to. There are seven things that the
Lord dislikes and cannot tolerate:
All: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that kill innocent people, a mind that thinks up
wicked plans, feet that hurry off to do evil, a witness who tells one lie after another, and
a man who stirs up trouble among friends.
Leader: Mindful of our parents’ warnings, we therefore pray:
All: Lord, help us listen to what our father tells us and to never forget what our mother
teaches us. May we keep their words with us always, locked in our hearts. Their
teachings will lead us when we travel, protect us at night, and advice us during the day.
Leader: Let us now trustingly pray to the Holy Family for assistance.
CY | 36
All: Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I give You my heart and my soul.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, assist me in my last agony.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, may I breathe forth my soul in peace with You.
Leader: Let us make the devil fast by not committing any sin.
All: Help us Lord wage war against sin.
Leader: Mary, Help of Christians
All: Pray for us. + In the name of the Father…
AFTERNOON PRAYER 3
Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Leader: He who does not look ahead, in the end will be left alone.
All: We are afraid to die and our fear has immobilized us. We have forged our own
chains with our cowardice.
Leader: It is only when we wrap ourselves in the trust of Christ who is the Divine Mercy that we
gain fortitude before death. And so we pray:
All: You died, Jesus, but the source of life flowed out for souls and the ocean of mercy
opened up for the whole world. O Fountain of Life, immeasurable Divine Mercy, cover the
whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. O Blood and Water, which flowed out from
the Heart of Jesus as the fountain of mercy for us, I trust in You.
All: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, Have mercy on us and on the
whole world. (3X)
Leader: Jesus, King of Mercy,
All: We trust in You.
Leader: O Lord, support us all the daylong of this troubled life
All: Until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed,
and the fever of life is over, and our work is done, then of Your mercy, grant us a safe
lodging and a holy rest and peace at last, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Leader: Mary, Help of Christians.
All: Pray for us. + In the name of the Father…
AFTERNOON PRAYER 4
Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Leader: It is beautiful to give praise to the Lord.
All: It is certainly good to proclaim his love in the morning and his faithfulness in the
evening.
Psalm 34: 2-11
Leader: At the end of this day, let us thank God, our loving Father. All good things come from Him.
From Him comes our hope and forgiveness. And so we say:
A: I will bless the Lord at all times; praise shall be ever on my lips.
B: My soul will glory in the Lord that the poor may hear and be glad.
A: Magnify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.
B: I sought the Lord, who answered me, delivered me from all my fears.
A: Look to God that you may be radiant with joy and your faces may not blush for

shame.
B: In my misfortune I called, the Lord heard and saved me from all distress.
A: The angel of the Lord, who encamps with them, delivers all who fear God.
B: Learn to savor how good the Lord is; happy are those who take refuge in Him.
A: Fear the Lord, you holy ones; nothing is lacking to those who fear Him.
B: The powerful grow poor and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
Leader: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
All: As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
(Pause for a brief examination of conscience)
Leader: Let us pray… Thank you, Lord, for this day spent in your Name.
All: We have recognized you, Lord, in our works and in the persons we have met.
Leader: We thank you for the rest you give us.
All: May it make us strong in body and in spirit, prepare us to live according to your will.
Leader: May the weaknesses we have shown today make us humble.
All: In spite of them we trust in the Lord’s kindness.
Leader: Mary, Help of Christians.
All: Pray for us. + In the name of the Father…
AFTERNOON PRAYER 5
Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Psalm 23
Leader: Let us altogether trustingly pray to God who is the Good Shepherd, leading us to green
pastures and restful waters.
Leader: Let my prayer rise up to you, Lord.
All: As an evening sacrifice.
Leader: Let us now be sorry for our sins by saying the Act of Contrition:
All: O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins
because I fear the loss of heaven and the pains of hell. But most of all because I

offended You, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve
with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life.
Amen.
Leader: Thank you Lord, for the life and all that you have given us today.
All: May your gifts bring us close to you.
Leader: In your presence we acknowledge our sins.
All: Forgive them and help us grow in your love.
Leader: Bless, Lord, our dear ones.
All: Keep the members of our families in your love and reward those who do good to
us.
Leader: We entrust to you, Lord, all our intentions as we pray:
All: Our Father who art in heaven…
Leader: May the Lord watch over us.
All: And give us a peaceful rest.
Leader: Mary, Help of Christians.
All: Pray for us. + In the name of the Father…

NIGHT PRAYER
Leader: In the name + of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Leader: The end of the day reminds us of the end of life. Let us now profess our faith, the faith for which
we want to live and die.
All: I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things
visible and invisible.
CY | 43
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father
before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not
made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and
for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the
Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he
suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the
Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will
come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and
the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken
through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the
forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the
world to come. Amen.
Leader: Each day is an experience of our sinfulness as well as the greatness of God’s love. Let us now
examine our conscience. (Pause for some moments of silence)
Let us express our sorrow for our sins (Act of Contrition)
All: O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You. I detest all my sins because
I fear the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because I offended You my
God, who are all good and deserving of all my love, I firmly resolve, with the help of your
grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
Leader: Let us entrust our night’s rest to our Blessed Mother. (to be repeated three times)
Dear Mother Mary ever a virgin,
All: Help me to save my soul.
Leader: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the
fruit of you womb, Jesus.
All: Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

DEVOTIONAL PRAYERS
NOVENA IN HONOR OF MARY’S ASSUMPTION
(http://www.praymorenovenas.com/assumption-novena/)
Leader: Let us meditate how glorious Mary was after death, since by the power of God her body, raised
again to life, was assumed into heaven. Let us now invoke her:
All: Lord Jesus Christ, You have destroyed the power of death and given the hope of eternal life in
body and soul. You granted Your Mother a special place in your glory, and did not allow decay to
touch her body. As we rejoice in the Assumption of Mary, give to us a renewed confidence in the
victory of life over death. You live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
(Everyone): We are comforted by our faith in the coming Resurrection and we look to you for prayers and
comfort.
After this earthly life, show us Jesus, the blest fruit of your womb, O kind, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Day 2
Mary, Assumed into Heaven, we venerate you as the Queen of Heaven and earth. As you tasted the
bitterness of pain and sorrow with your Son on earth, you now enjoy eternal bliss with Him in Heaven.
Loving Queen, intercede for us in our needs.
(Let us pause for a while and pray in silence for a particular intention.)
CY | 45
In the name of the Father…
Day 3
O Mother, Assumed into Heaven, because you shared in all the mysteries of our Redemption here below,
Jesus has crowned you with glory. With your most glorious and powerful intercession, help us O loving
Mother and present to Jesus our request.
(Let us pause for a while and pray in silence for a particular intention.)
Day 4
O Dearest Mother Mary, Assumed into Heaven, God placed you at His right hand that you may intercede
for his little ones as the Mother of God. In the midst of all the Saints, you stand as their Queen and ours
— dearer to the Heart of God than any creation. You pray for your children and give to us every grace
won by our loving Savior on the Cross. Please intercede for us in our needs and ask Jesus to grant our
request if it be for the good of our souls.
(Let us pause for a while and pray in silence for a particular intention.)
Day 5
O merciful and loving Mother, may your glorious beauty fill our hearts with distaste for earthly things and
an ardent longing for the joys of Heaven. May your merciful eyes glance down upon our struggles and our
weakness in this vale of tears. Hear then loving Mother, our request and plead to Jesus for us.
(Let us pause for a while and pray in silence for a particular intention.)
(Everyone) Crown us with the pure robe of innocence and grace here, and with immortality and glory in
Heaven.
Day 6
Mary, our dear Mother and mighty Queen, take and receive our poor hearts with all their freedom and
desires, all the love and all the virtues and graces with which they may be adorned. All we are and all we
might be, all we have and hold in the order of nature as well as of grace, we have received from God
through your loving intercession. Help us dear Mother to surrender to God all that we have including our
petitions.
(Let us pause for a while and pray in silence for a particular intention.)
(Everyone) Our Lady and Queen, into your gentle hands, we entrust all, that it may be returned to its
noble origin.

Leader: Mary, our Queen assumed into heaven and help of Christians.
All: Pray for us.
In the name of the Father…
Day 7
Mary, Queen of every heart, accept all that we are and bind us to Jesus with the bonds of love, that we
may be yours forever and may be able to say in all truth: “I belong to Jesus through Mary”.
Our Mother, Assumed into Heaven and Queen of the Universe, ever-Virgin Mother of God, obtain for us
what we ask for if it be for the glory of God and the good of our souls.
(Let us pause for a while and pray in silence for a particular intention.)
(Everyone) Our Mother, assumed into Heaven, we love you. Give us a greater love for Jesus and for you.
Day 8
Mary, Queen Assumed into Heaven, we rejoice that you are the Queen of Heaven and Earth. You have
given your holy fiat to God and became the Mother of our Savior. Obtain peace and salvation for us
through your prayers, for you have given birth to Christ our Lord, the Savior of all mankind.
Intercede for us and bring our petitions before the Throne of God.
(Let us pause for a while and pray in silence for a particular intention.)
(Everyone) Through your prayers, may our souls be filled with an intense desire to be like you, a humble
vessel of the Holy Spirit and a servant of the Almighty God. Pray for us O Queen Assumed into Heaven,
that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Day 9
O Blessed Mother Assumed into Heaven, after years of heroic martyrdom on earth, we rejoice that you
have at last been taken to the throne prepared for you in Heaven by the Holy Trinity. Lift our hearts with
you in the glory of your Assumption above the dreadful touch of sin and impurity. Teach us how small
earth becomes when viewed from heaven. Make us realize that death is the triumphant gate through

In honor of your Assumption into Heaven we ask for this favor.

Eight Day (Openness to God’s will)
O St. John Bosco, through a dream when you were nine years old, you discovered God’s will and fulfilled
it even at the cost of sacrifice. We cherish our many dreams and ambitions and look forward to the future.
Through your intercession, may God continue to bless and protect us. May we remain ever open to His
will, and ever willing to embrace it with generosity and commitment.

Priest: The real presence of Christ in the Eucharist has been challenged from his own time. Many who
heard Christ saying “My flesh is really food and my blood is drink” reacted: “ This sort of
teaching is very hard! Who can accept it!” (Jn 6:55, 60). But Jesus did not mince words. He
maintained that if we do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, we have no life
in him. Let us now adore Christ present in all the Masses celebrated every day and in all the
tabernacles scattered all over the world.
ALL: I adore you, O my God, / present in the Holy Eucharist, / as my Creator, my preserver, and
my Redeemer. / I offer you all that I have, / all that I am, / all depends on me. / I offer you
CY | 52
my mind to think of You; / my heart love You; / my will to serve You; / my body to labor
and suffer for Your love. / I am Yours, I give myself. / I entrust myself to You. / I abandon
myself to You. / I wish to live and die for love of You.
Short Silence
Priest: Jesus said: “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall never be hungry, and who
believes in Me shall never be thirsty… my flesh is really food and my blood is drink. He who
eats my flesh and drinks my blood, lives in Me and I in him.” (Jn 6:35, 55)
ALL: After this many disciples withdrew and no longer followed Jesus.
Priest: Jesus asked the Twelve, “Will you also go away?” Peter answered him, “Lord, whom shall we
go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and now we know that You are
the Holy One of God.” (Jn. 6:66ff)
ALL: Lord, give me a pure heart, that I may see you; / a humble heart, that I may hear you; / a
heart of love, that I may serve you; / a heart of faith, that I may abide in you. (Dag

Short Silence
Intercessions
Priest: Brothers, Jesus Christ is the bread of life who nourishes us for our salvation. Let us therefore
present to Him our needs, confident that He will hear us.

English Translation
Down in adoration falling. Lo! the sacred Host we hail,
Lo! oe'r ancient forms departing, newer rites of grace prevail;
Faith for all defects supplying, where the feeble senses fail.
To the everlasting Father, and the Son who reigns on high
With the Holy Spirit proceeding, forth from each eternally,
Be salvation, honor blessing, might and endless majesty. Amen.
Priest: Let us pray: O God, who in this wonderful sacrament has left us the memorial of Your passion.
Grant that we may so venerate the mysteries of Your Body and Blood, as always to be conscious of
the fruit of Your redemption. You who live and reign forever and ever.
All: Amen.

Prayer of Blessing:
Priest: O God, by whose Word all things are sanctified, pour forth Your blessing (†) upon this wreath and
grant that we who use it may prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ and may receive from You
abundant graces. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
The wreath would then be sprinkled with water (the prayer of blessing and the sprinkling of holy water is
done only once). Then follows the prayer:
FIRST WEEK
Priest: O Lord, stir up Thy might, we beg Thee, and come, that by Thy protection we may deserve to
be rescued from the threatening dangers of our sins and saved by Thy deliverance. Through
Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
The first candle (violet) is lit by the youngest student of the school.
SECOND WEEK
Priest: O Lord, stir up our hearts that we may prepare for Thy only begotten Son, that through His
coming we may be made worthy to serve Thee with pure minds. Through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
The 1st and 2nd candles (violet) are lit by a student of a higher year/level.
THIRD WEEK
Priest: O Lord, we beg Thee, incline Thy ear to our prayers and enlighten the darkness of our minds by
the grace of Thy visitation. Through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
The previous candles and the third (rose, pink) are lit by a female teacher.
FOURTH WEEK
Priest: O Lord, stir up Thy power, we pray Thee, and come; and with great might help us, that with the
help of Thy Grace, Thy merciful forgiveness may hasten what our sins impede. Through Christ
our Lord.
All: Amen.
All four candles are lit by a teacher.
Opening Prayer:
Leader: Lord Jesus Christ, as we gather here to meditate on Your Paschal Mystery, grant us all the
grace to detest sin as You did, and to spend our life for our neighbor as You taught us through
your example. Thus shall we be able to share not only in Your sufferings but also in Your
resurrection. You who live and reign forever and ever.
All: Amen.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, You loved us to the utmost. * You loved us to the end. * You remain in the Eucharist to be for
us * the food and drink that give eternal life. * You remain with us * to be the continuous sign * of God’s

Forgive us, Lord, * for the times we have failed to appreciate * your gift of self to us * and Your loving
presence in the Eucharist.

mankind, * for You gave us all * Your very own mother as our mother.
May we be as loving children to her as You were.

How great her love forYyou.

Prayer
Jesus, * Your holy body could not undergo the corruption of the sepulcher. * The tomb could not hold You
longer than it was needed * to prove that Your death was real. * Now the shattered seals, * the entrance
stone rolled back, * the testimony of the angel * prove that our resurrection is real. It also proves in
advance * that we too shall rise.
Your resurrection, Lord, * is the pattern of our resurrection even now. * It is a challenge to all of us to rise,
* from the death of sin to the life of grace.
Jesus, You are the Lord of the living. * Thank You, Lord, * for dying for us. * Thank You for rising for us.
Song: The doors of death You shattered,
Hell’s might you did break,
As gloriously You gave new life
When You rose from the grave.

2. Pray the Prayer for Thanksgiving:
Dear Jesus, you are so good! My heart is clean and beautiful again. You have taken away
all my sins. I am again your friend. You say to me: “Go in peace, your sins are forgiven.”
Dear Jesus, I thank you for all your love and goodness. But you know that I am not very
strong. Help me keep away from sin and wrongdoing. Give me courage to serve and love
you. Let me rather suffer than lose again your friendship. O Mary, help me keep my heart
clean and beautiful as it is now. O My Guardian Angel, be always at my side.
