My Dear Boys,
Welcome to the school of Don Bosco!
Always remember that it is enough for a boy to enter into a School of Don Bosco for the
Blessed Virgin to take him immediately under her mantle.
• Entrust everything to Jesus in Blessed Sacrament and Mary Help of Christians and
you will see what miracles are all about.
• I do not desire anything else from the youth than they become good, and that they
are always cheerful. By all means, live with the greatest cheerfulness at all times,
provided you do not sin.
• When I see all the boys busily playing, I am certain that the devil can do his best but
will not succeed.
• To do good, you must have courage, be ready to suffer any mortification, never
humiliate anyone, always be lovable.
• May your heart be always flavored with kindness: kindness in talking and in acting.
May your every word be marked with charity: sweetness in speaking, in working,
and in advising for everything and for everybody.
• Do good to all, evil to no one. Do not postpone till tomorrow what you can do today,
because, perhaps, tomorrow you will have no more time.
• Work for the Lord. Paradise pays everything. Do your best, and then the Lord will do
the rest.
• Laziness and modesty cannot stay together. By avoiding laziness you will overcome
temptations against modesty.
• The first method to educate well is to make good confessions and communions.
• Place yourself in the hands of God and Mary with all trust; pray and everything will
be all right.
My dear children, I love you with all my heart, and it is enough for you to be young for me to
love you so much.

PROFESSION OF FAITH (THE APOSTLES’ CREED)
A: I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his

CONSECRATION
P: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness make holy, therefore these gifts, we pray, by
sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body and +
Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread and, giving thanks,
broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take this, all of you, and eat of it; for this is my body which will be given up for you.
In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more you thanks, he gave it
to his disciples, saying:
Take this, all of you, and drink from it; for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new
and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the
forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith:
A: (i) We proclaim Your death, O Lord, and profess Your Resurrection until You come again.
(ii) When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim Your death, O Lord, until You

Don Bosco:
All: He is a man * who surrendered himself totally to God and to the young * in one and the same
act of love * which led him to ‘go out’ * and take courageous decisions: * the decision to devote
himself to poor youth * with the aim of giving rise * to a vast movement of poor people for poor
people; * and the decision to extend this service * beyond the boundaries of language, race,
culture and religion, * thanks to his tireless missionary impulse.”

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father
before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not

Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he

Fifth Day (Rejection of sin)
O St. John Bosco, your mother Margaret taught you to hate and reject any form of sin. We often put
ourselves in the occasions of sin, and become weak and hesitant in front of temptations. Through your
intercession, may God fill us with a genuine sorrow for our sins, and grant us His forgiveness. May we
reject sin and strive to live as loving sons and daughters of God our Father.

THE HOLY ROSARY
How to Pray the Holy Rosary

- While holding the crucifix, make the Sign of the Cross.
- Then, recite the Apostles’ Creed. (found on page 6).
- Then recite the Our Father on the first large bead.
- On each of the three small beads, recite a Hail Mary for an increase of faith, hope and charity.
- Recite the Glory Be to the Father after the third Hail Mary
- Recall the first Rosary Mystery, read the meditation and then recite the Our Father on the next large
bead. On each of the adjacent ten small beads (a decade) recite a Hail Mary while reflecting on the
Mystery. After the tenth Hail Mary, recite a Glory Be to the Father and the Fatima Prayer (optional):

The Fifth Station: JESUS RECEIVES THE CROSS

Prayer
Dear Lord, * the cross was the punishment for criminals and insurgents. * Who could believe that it was
placed on the shoulders of the Son of God, * the source of all holiness and goodness?
And yet, You accepted it in all humility * because You knew that such was the condition * to save us from
eternal damnation.
The cross You accepted to carry was our cross * - the cross of our sins, * the cross of our weaknesses,
our discouragements, * our failures, our wickedness …
To this very day, * innocent men, women and children are made to bear * the cross of other people’s

discovered what life can be * if one wants to help others.
Send us more Simon of Cyrene, Lord. * Send us people who have the courage * to shoulder the crosses
of others in brotherly solidarity and patience. * Make us like Simon, Lord. * Grant us the strength and
generosity to carry one another’s burden, * for our society is crowded with poor Christs * crushed by
crosses of all shapes and weights.

enough to follow You along the road to Calvary. * But You directed their attention to the cause of Your
suffering * - SIN, and the punishment which unrepentance would bring down on all.
We wish we were as sincere as they were * in lamenting the unfair treatment to which You were
subjected. * And we wish likewise, that we were equally sensitive * to the suffering of our neighbor * -
especially the squatters, the jobless, the homeless, * and all the other victims of human injustice and
exploitation. * For it is all these forms of sin * which bring down God’s well-deserved punishments on our
society.

We often meet people who have done wrong * and would like to begin a new life. * Lord, grant that we
may always be as well disposed to them * as You were to the repentant thief. * In this way, we, too, * will
end the course of our life * sharing the faith and trust of the good thief, * and hearing Your promise of

Examination of conscience:
1. Recall what sins you have committed in the past.
2. How many times have you committed these sins?
3. On what occasions did you commit these sins and why?
4. Be sorry for your sins.

1. Approach the priest, make the sign of the cross and say, “Forgive me father for I have sinned. My
last confession was… (days/weeks/months/years). Father, these are my sins… (then enumerate

telling everything, say, “That’s all father.”
2. Listen to what the priest will say to you and then make the Act of Contrition:

1. Reflect on the basic Christian virtues: faith, hope, love, patience, purity, honesty, and see if you have

failed to keep them.
3. You may have your own ways to make a good examination of conscience. Remember, what is
essential is to place yourself in the presence of Almighty God and ask yourself, in total honesty, if He

How interested am I in knowing my faith better and helping others (including my friends, officemates,
classmates and relatives) do so?

Was I disrespectful or disobedient to them?
Did I help them when I could?
Did I disappoint them? How?
Did I respect my teachers, my parish priest and other persons in authority?
