Chapter III

Methodology

The title of this study is “Printed Academic Text Books: Its Efficacy Compared to Digital

Academic Textbooks (E-Books) for Don Bosco Canlubang Senior High School Students.” This

study aims to determine the efficacies of Printed textbooks compared to e-books for Don Bosco

Canlubang Senior High School Students. This chapter explores and analyzes the researcher’s

proposed study methodology in order to apply the research to situations. In this chapter, research

design, data collection procedure, data processing and analysis, and data presentation are all

included here.

Research Design

The researcher will use a descriptive method by using survey questionnaire through the use of

google forms. The survey will be conducted by providing structured questionnaire to a number of

random respondents from the STEM Senior High School Students of Don Bosco Canlubang. The

common experiences of reading printed textbooks and e-books in order to identify the efficacies

of printed textbooks will be asked by to the participants. The survey will be supported using an

online interview guide questionnaire, google forms specifically. The study aims to determine and

identify the certain efficacies of printed textbooks compared to e-books. In order to identify and

evaluate the efficacy of printed textbooks compared to e-books as perceive by the STEM Senior

High School Students of Don Bosco Canlubang, a simple random sample approach will be utilized.
Upon having this research design, the researcher will make sure that the questions are important

and significant to obtain the focus of the data. The study will lead to quantifying the relationship

between the variables in the study. In simple random sample method of approach, every participant

in the population has the same probability of getting chosen. Then, data are gathered from as much

of this randomly selected subgroup as feasible.

Data Collection

The respondents will be from the Grade 12-STEM section of Don Bosco Senior High School.

The respondents will be chosen randomly, utilizing the simple random method of approach. The

study’s responders will be forty (40) students from the Grade 12-STEM section of Don Bosco

Senior High School. Twenty (20) students will be chosen for the section of Versiglia and

Caravario. The respondents are chosen randomly. The researcher will deploy Google forms in

order to conduct the survey questions. The questionnaires will be tabulated so that the researcher

can quantify and evaluate the conclusions. The researcher will utilized this method since it is easy

and efficient for gathering data. The respondents will be sent a link through the Messenger

application. The form's questions will all based on the researcher's findings, relevant studies, and

readings.

The utilization of 5 point-Likert scale will be the type of survey that will be performed through

the use of Google forms. In a Likert Scale Survey, participants will be asked to choose whether

they agree or disagree with a given quality rather than just selecting "yes" or "no." In such situation,

figuring out the survey's findings would be straightforward.

confidentiality. The researcher will develop an analysis of data through the survey questionnaire

by having the major emphasis and idea of the study.

Canlubang as the respondents. The researcher will investigate and examine the data gathered and

will openly and freely make interpretations and judgements based on the collected data regarding

the efficacies of printed textbooks compared to e-books in which it will be beneficial to the study.
