Aadi Mahotsav

Recently, TRIFED has organized Aadi Mahotsav, in Delhi.


 More than 500+ artisans attended the festival and transacted business worth over Rs
20 Crores in the two-week-long festival.
 More than 500 cultural troupes performed at the festival.
 The Aadi Mahotsav acquaints people with and gives a peek into the rich tribal
heritage and culture. This helps the underprivileged tribes get a bigger market for
displaying and selling their arts and crafts. The Aadi Mahotsav is also an opportunity
for the artisans to interact directly with art lovers and get first-hand feedback which
can then better their creations and designs.

MoFPI inked MoU with DAHD

On November 17, 2021, the Ministry of Food Processing Industry (MoFPI) and the
Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy (DAHD) signed a MoU.
 The goal of the memorandum of understanding was to develop the livestock sector.
 The MoU was established to make it easier for the Department of Animal Husbandry
and Dairying to extend incentives to dairy entrepreneurs and enterprises by
combining multiple initiatives.
 It will also assist in the generation of revenue for the rural poor's long-term
development by providing loans, supplying required technologies, and increasing
quality control.

Bhumi Samvaad

Ministry of Rural Development organised a National Workshop on Digital India Land Record
Modernisation Programme (DILRMP) called Bhumi Samvaad, on November 16, 2021.
 The workshop was organised in a bid to boost to national land record modernization
programme.
 This workshop would enable States to share the best practices with each other in the
field and learn regarding the latest software developments.
 National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) portal & Dashboard, was
also launched on the occasion.
o NGDRS is an in-house advanced software application for doing registration.
This system is configurable and compatible with state-specific needs in India.

Food Security Museum

India’s first food museum inaugurated in Thanjavur. The museum has been co-developed
by Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museums,
Bengaluru.
 Food Security Museum showcases the evolution of man from nomadic hunter groups
into settled agriculture procedures, marking the beginning of civilization.
 It also showcases several ancient global & indigenous grain storage methods,
challenges in storage as well as food grain production scenarios in the world & India.

Kaiser-i-Hind

Arunachal Pradesh, approved “Kaiser-i-Hind” as state butterfly on November 13, 2021.


Kaiser-i-Hind is scientifically known as Teinopalpus imperialis. In literal terms, it means
Emperor of India.
 It is found across six States along Eastern Himalayas at the elevations from 6,000-
10,000 feet in a well-wooded terrain. They also flutter in Bhutan, Nepal, Laos,
Myanmar, southern China and Vietnam.
 The Kaiser-i-Hind is protected under Schedule II of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.

Incentives approved for sugar cane, cotton, jute


farmers

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA)has approved a slew of measures that will
support farmers growing sugar, cotton and jute.
 CCEA increased the price of ethanol extracted from sugar cane juice to blend it with
petrol.
 Ethanol blending with petrol is expected to reach 10% by 2022 and 20% by 2025.
 CCEA has also increased the rate for ethanol extracted from C-heavy molasses.
 Oil marketing companies purchase ethanol from distilleries and sugar mills at the
rate set by Government.
 Ethanol blending programme reduced the dependence on crude oil imports.
 CCEA also approved a committed price support of Rs. 17,408.85 crore for the Cotton
Corporation of India (CCI).
o Price support will be provided as reimbursement for its losses occurred in
past seven years in procuring crops from farmers at minimum support prices
(MSP).

‘Duare Ration’ Scheme

West Bengal inaugurated the “Duare Ration Scheme” on November 16, 2021.
 The Duare Ration (ration at doorstep) scheme is going to benefit around 10 crore
people of the state.
 Government has also decided to enhance commission for ration dealers from Rs 75
to Rs 150 per quintal of food grains.
 Under the scheme, 10 crore people will get their ration at their doorstep on a fixed
day in every month.
 Dealers will also get a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh from government, for
purchasing vehicles to deliver ration.
 West Bengal government also inaugurated the “Khadya Sathi: Amar Ration Mobile
App” .This app will help people to apply for ration cards and get related information.

Uttam Beej Portal

Haryana govt. has recently launched the ‘Uttam Beej portal’ which will benefit the farmers
of Haryana by providing quality seeds with transparency.
 The portal will provide transparency in the seed production programme arranged
by both the Government and private seed producing agencies and ensure the
quality of certified seeds.
 This seed portal has been linked with Meri Fasal Mera Byora Portal and Family
Identity Card ID.
o Meri Fasal Mera Byora Portal offers particulars to all these farmers who’ve
land or who’ve given their land on contract and should promote their crop.

Krishi UDAN 2.O

Recently, the Union Minister of Civil Aviation has released Krishi Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik
(UDAN) 2.0 to facilitate movement of agricultural produce by air.
 It lays out the vision of improving value realization through better integration and
optimization of agri-harvesting and air transportation and contributing to agri-
value chain sustainability and resilience under different and dynamic conditions.
 Ministry of Civil Aviation flagged off new routes expanding the aerial connectivity of
North-East India, under the UDAN Scheme.

Nationwide AHDF KCC Campaign

Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying has launched a ‘Nationwide AHDF KCC
Campaign’.The nationwide campaign aims to expand the benefits of Kisan Credit Card
(KCC) to all eligible animal husbandry & fish farmers across the country.
 Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), together with the
Department of Fisheries (DoF) and the Department of Financial Services (DFS) is
organizing the "Nationwide AHDF KCC Campaign" from 15 November 2021 to 15
February 2022.
 Under this Campaign, the target of the government is to cover all eligible farmers
who are involved in various Animal Husbandry activities such as the rearing of
bovines, goats, pigs, poultry & other allied activities.
 A cheap loan of Rs 3 lakh is available under KCC for farming while Rs. 2 lakh for
animal husbandry and fish farmers.

National Awards in Agri Sector

Under the supervision of Assam Agricultural University (AAU), two ethnic tribes from the
northeast won two national awards in the agriculture sector on Saturday.
 For their contributions in the agricultural sector, the Centre awarded the 'Plant
Genome Saviour Community Award' to Dhonsuri Agril farmer cooperative society
of Karbi tribe and the 'Plant Genome Saviour Farmer Recognition Award' to
Boloram Sorongsa of Dimasa tribe.
 The Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Authority, established by the
Central government under the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Act,
2001, annually bestows the 'Plant Genome Saviour Community Award.

Meghalaya govt partners with WFP

In a first in the northeast region, the Meghalaya government has signed an MoU with the
United Nations World Food Programme to streamline and strengthen the Public
Distribution Scheme.
 The partnership will help the WFP authorities and the state government work
together towards Sustainable Development Goal two - Zero Hunger.
 As part of the partnership, the WFP and the department will undertake supply chain
optimisation of the entire targeted public distribution system in the state, and
introduce innovative solutions and technologies
