A good way of ridding yourself of certain kinds of dogmatism is to become aware of opinions held in
social circles different from your own. When I was young, I lived much outside my own country in
France, Germany, Italy, and the United States. I found this very profitable in diminishing the intensity of
insular prejudice. If you cannot travel, seek out people with whom you disagree, and read a newspaper
belonging to a party that is not yours. If the people and the newspaper seem mad, perverse, and wicked,
remind yourself that you seem so to them. In this opinion both parties may be right, but they cannot both
be wrong. This reflection should generate a certain caution.

F) 1. No pains, no gains.
Speculation necessary for success
The man who is afraid of taking risks can never hope for success. By doing his routine work in
his particular sphere, all he can hope to attain is Bare subsistence. Wealth is not for a man like
him: it is reserved for those few who are always actuated by a spirit of adventure and by an iron
determination to fight down all obstacles that stand in the way of success. The world is not a bed
of roses.
2. All that glitters is not gold.
Outward appearance can be greatly misleading. Gold is a very valuable metal. It has an
attractive glittering appearance too. But it does not mean that everything which glitters like gold
should be precious. there are utterly valueless things that look like gold and taking them on their
face value in unwise. On the contrary, some of the dull looking things possess immense value.
Their appearance is in no way proportionate to the great value they have. This is true of human
beings also. A person may be good looking having an attractive character. But he may not possess
any real ability or talent. He can even turn out to be unscrupulous too. A man must be judged on
the basis of his abilities and not on his external appearance. Many of the truly good and great
men are humble. Goodness and perfection do not go with gaudiness. Like shinning glass pieces
which dazzle and glitter like diamonds the appearance of men can be greatly misleading. Therefore
estimation and analysis of people on the basis of mere appearance is an unwise approach.

Write a letter your Father about your preparation for the exams and your future plalns.
Government Junior College
Rangasaipet
Warangal
18 January 2019
Dear Father
I’am fine here. How are you all there? I am preparing well for my Annual exams
which are going to start next week.
Through your letter, I know that you are anxious to know more about my preparation for the
exams. Our syllabus was completed in December. We need not worry about that. And I am well
prepared and confident regarding all subjects, except Physics. The theory part is ok but I am
rattled by some of the difficult problems, especially in Mechanics. Mechanics is a hard nut to
crack. But, don’t worry. We have ample time and also good lecturers who are always ready to
come to our rescue. Other than that I have revised the entire syllabus twice. I will definitely get a
good percentage in the Annual Exam. After the annual exams, we have short-term coaching for
CIVILS. So, I will continue my preparation for the Public exams as well as for CIVILS. Once all
the exams are over I can relax.
I am doing well. You need not feel anxious about my exams. How is mom ? I miss both of
you a lot. Take care.
Yours affectionately

Write a letter to the Editor of a news paper on the poor sanitary conditions in your locality.
From :
K.Yadaiah
Plot No.16, Saraswathi Nagar colony
Saroor Nagar, Hyderabad -10.

To,
The Editor
Deccan Herald
R.P. Road, Secunderabad.
Sir,
Kindly allow me to draw your attention towards the insanitary conditions in my locality. At the
main entrance of the locality there lie heaps of trash. A Part of the road has been dug for reasons
unknown and rain water has collected in it. This provides a good breeding ground for mosquitoes
and a few cases of Cholera and Malaria have already been reported to a nearby hospital. The rain
water carries the rubbish all over the streets making it difficult to walk. The foul smell of the
stinking garbage is hard to bear. The streets of the locality are in need of immediate repair.
The colony sweepers have not been doing their job for the last two months. Our complaint about
them to the Sanitary Inspector of this locality has fallen on deaf ears.
The authorities are requested to sympathise with the conditions and take effective steps as early
as possible.

Yours truly,
YADAIAH
