Chapter 4- Activity 1

I. ESSAY- Explain briefly

1. How do we reduce the negative effects of climate change?

Negative effects of climate change are infact hard to change, But there are ways
that we can help on reducing it. The goal is simple. Carbon dioxide is the climate’s worst
enemy. It’s released when oil, coal, and other fossil fuels are burned for energy—the
energy we use to power our homes, cars, and smartphones. By using less of it, we can
curb our own contribution to climate change while also saving money. Here are few
easy, effective ways each one of us can make a difference. Planting more trees,
conserving and saving energy at home, enlighment about the cause and effect of
climate change, reduce water waste and do not use gas that produces carbon dioxide as
much as possible.

2. In your community, what impacts of climate change have

already been observed?

In my community, we have observed that some of the effects or impacts of

climate changes are La Nino and La Nina due to the ever changing and indecipherable
weather. Because of this, Farmers suffer from lose of inncome and livestock increasing
the market price of the raw products which also effects the consumers budget and
financial position.

3. Give a possible solution of climate change at your home,

school and barangay.

AWARENESS! the first step of the solution. Awareness shakes humanity. It

kickstarts the progress that stimulates the steps needed in solving Climate change both
in the community, school and at our home.
II. IDENTIFICATION. Identify the following items. Write your
answer in the space provided. (10 pts)

Carbon Dioxide 1. The most important greenhouse gas in the

atmosphere.
Ocean Currents 2. The major component of the climate
system. They cover about 71% of the Earth and absorb
about twice as much of the sun's radiation as the
atmosphere or the land surface
Nitrogen 3. This gas is also made by leguminous plants,
such as beans and pulses that add nitrogen to the soil.
Electricity 4. It is the main source of power in urban
areas. All our gadgets run on electricity generated
mainly from thermal power plants.
Volcanoes 5. It throws out large volumes of sulfur
dioxide, water vapor, dust, and ash into the

atmosphere.
Global warming 6. It is an increase in the overall
temperature of the earth's atmosphere.
Continental Drift 7. This drift also had an impact on the
climate because it changed the physical features of the
landmass, their position and the position of water
bodies. The separation of the landmasses changed the flow
of ocean currents and winds, which affected the climate.
Climate Change 8. It is a change in the statistical
distribution of weather over periods of time that range
from decades to millions of years.
The Earth's Tilt 9. Changes in the tilt of the earth can
affect the severity of the seasons - more tilt means
warmer summers and colder winters; less tilt means
cooler summers and milder winters.
10. It can be a change in the average weather
Climate Change
or a change in the distribution of weather events
around an average. It may be limited to a specific
region, or may occur across the whole Earth.
