COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

1. apply listening skills (note-taking, locating main ideas and details, etc.) to understand spoken texts at B2
level.

2. apply speaking skills to produce spoken texts at B2 level.

3. apply acquired language and skills to generate individual and interactive discussions about topics
covered in the textbook.

4. select ICT applications for learning and research.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
1. Attendance in all sessions is strongly recommended. Participants are required to give advance
notice of their absence in case of illness or any other situations. However, 80% is the minimum
attendance required for a student to take the final test.

2. The use of mobile phones and/or laptops for personal purposes without instructors’
permission is forbidden during class time.

3. Participants are expected to be well prepared and take an active role in class discussions and
work collaboratively with their peers.

4. Forms of plagiarism and cheating will lead to a failing grade or zero on the assignment or test.

HOMEWORK (10% - MID-TERM)

Students need to: Complete all of the assignments/homework.


QUIZZES (40% - MID-TERM)

There are 2 listening quizzes:


+ Quiz 1: Week 6 (20%).

+ Quiz 2: Week 12 (20%).


PRESENTATION (50% - MID-TERM)
+ Divide class into 6 groups (6-7 members/group).
+ Topic: assigned by the teacher.
+ Submit the powerpoint slides 1 week in advance for feedback.
+ Everyone MUST present.
+ Maximum: 5 mins/person.
PRESENTATION - REQUIREMENTS
+ Only put key words on the slides.
+ Please do not read the slides, eye contact with the audience is needed
+ Paraphrasing is needed.
+ The presenter shall manage everything by himself/herself during the
presentation. There should be no others to help (slide changing) à
should prepare a wireless mouse.

BONUSES

+ Students are encouraged to participate in classroom activities and


receive bonuses as rewards.
+ 1 bonus = 0.04 point (added to Mid-term score).
+ Maximum: 2 points (added to Mid-term score).
GOOGLE CLASSROOM

+ Students are expected to join Google classroom and update the


information there.
+ Homework and assignments are also posted on Google Classroom.
