Dance can be defined as the performing art form consisting of


purposefully selected sequences of human movement. This
movement has aesthetic and symbolic value and is acknowledged as
dance by performersand observers within a particular culture.

Festival Dance
Festival dances are cultural dances
performed to the beats of instruments,

usually done in honor of a Patron Saint or
in the thanksgiving of a bountiful harvest.

Dance Terms
1. Arms in lateral position – Both arms are at one side either right or left, at shoulder, chest or waist level.

Crossed Arms – Partners facing each other or standing side by side join their left hands together and the right hands together;

5. Saludo – Partners bow to each other, to the audience, opposite dancers, or to the neighbors with feet together. This is of Spanish
origin and is used in almost all Philippine dance
