Chapter I
The Research Problem

INTRODUCTION
Rice is the seeds of grass Species Oryza Sativa (Asian Rice) as a cereals

grain. It is the most widely consumed staples food for a large part of the worlds

consumed population, especially in Asia. It is the agricultural commodity with

the third highest worldwide production. Rice is an annual plant, relating to

grass. The rice plant produces the grain known as rice. It is a staple food for a

large part of the world’s population. Rice plant composes of four main parts

including root, stem, leaf, and panicle.

The Agri-Pinoy Rice Program plays a key role in the Food Staples

Sufficiency Program (FSSP), the central focus of the country's food security

policy from 2011 to 2016 and beyond.

With the vision of a food-secure society where farmers enjoy a decent and

rising standards of living, the FSSP 2011-2016 aims to achieve self-sufficiency

in food staples. Self-sufficiency means satisfying domestic requirements for

food, seeds, processing, and feeds through domestic production.

The key target is to produce the country's domestic requirements by

2013.Beyond 2013, the aim is to strengthen national resilience in staples

production.

The key strategies are concentrated in the following: (1) raising farmers'

productivity and

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

General Objective
This study will be generally aimed to determine the level of Adoption of

the Agri-Pinoy Rice Program Implemented by DAF-ARMM in Barangay

Tapayan, Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao.

Specifically it aims to answer the following specific questions:

1. To determine the Socio-Economic profile of the beneficiaries;

2. To determine the level of adoption on the Agri-Pinoy Rice Program

Implemented by DAF-ARMM ;

3. Problems and needs encountered by the beneficiaries on the Adoption

of Agri-Pinoy Rice Program Implemented by the DAF-ARMM.

Scope and limitation of the study

This study will be limited only on the Adoption of Agri-Pinoy Rice

Program Implemented by DAF-ARMM.

Time and location of the study

This study will be conducted at Barangay Tapayan, Sultan Mastura,

Maguidanao from October 2015 to December 2015.

Data Gathering Procedure

The data gathering procedure is consists of three stages. The first stage

will be preparatory stage, where the materials needed will be prepared in this

study.

The second stage will be the actual gathering of data which is the main

instrument on this study is distribution of survey questionnaire as the


authorities will be made through communication letters for the

interview/survey.

The third stage will be encoding, editing and consolidation of data in a

master sheet after which data are encoded in a computer and analyze through

analysis software program.

Analysis of Data

The data gathered will be analyzed through a software program (SPSS),

mean, frequency count and the percentage will be used in describing the socio-

economic profile of the beneficiaries, the level of Adoption on the Agri-Pinoy

Rice Program as well as the problems and needs encountered by the

beneficiaries in the Implementation of Agri-Pinoy Rice Program in Barangay

Tapayan, Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao.
