Repeatability of Measurements
TRANSLATION ADVISORY NOTICE: This document has been translated from French. In the event of any
dispute, only the French version is referred to as the reference text and is binding on the parties.
Object Define a test and a statistical calculation methodology to apply to any measurement or
inspection facility, specific to the standard, in order to determinate the values
measurement repeatability (product or process characteristics) on the mean, entering in
the calculation of the facility global uncertainty to be approved (according to standard
capability specific to facility).
This document can not be used without the standard capability particular to the
measurement facility considered.

Foreword
On the date of publication of this standard, no French or International standards dealing with this subject
existed.
This document:
has been drawn up from the Renault standard E41.36.110.R: « Approval of measurement
facility capability. Specific inspection methods »,
is to be applied when it is not possible to carry out a metrological measurement, the
Renault standard above then can not be used,
completes the standards capability of inspection facilities,
can not, under any circumstances, be used alone.
These provisions, common to several capability approvals, were extracted from reference standards, in
order to prevent unnecessary repetitions.
1 Definition
The Repeatability of measurements
Dispersion of measurements results for a value, repeated in identical conditions and without calibration,
over a short period of time (without carry out the calibration during the set of measurements).
The repeatability of measurements on means is equal to ± Ir with, Ir = 2sr
sr = standard deviation of the facility repeatability estimated from n standard deviations calculated for
each values obtained.
2 Methodology
2.1 Precautions
The facility previously tuned is set up in production conditions
3.1 Notations
P = number of values.
i = value index (from 1 to p).
m = number of measurements of a value on the inspection facility.
j = measurement index (1 to m).
y = value obtained on the mean.
yij = value obtained on mean on the value n° i during measurement n° j.
sri = standard deviation of the value measurements repeatability n° i on mean.
