4. Procedures
4.1 Introductory Activity ( 8 minutes).  The teacher will start the session with the following:
 Opening Prayer
 Attendance check
 Making sure learners are seated properly and the classroom is clean.
 The teacher will group the learners into 3 in preparation for the next activity.
The learners will be grouped according to the geometric symbol that they get
under their table. The teacher will let the learner identify the symbol as well as
the picture that they have in the symbol. (Integration of Numeracy and
Science Subject)
 The teacher will let the learners sit together with their group mates and will let
them create a name for their group. The group name must start with the word
FIRE. (Example: Fire Hazard, Fire Hydrant, Fire Exit) (Integration of Literacy)

Note: For modular distance learning groupings may not be applicable but
teachers may integrate numeracy including Fire safety symbols in the
learner’s SLHT/Module. For synchronous online learning, teachers may use
google Worksheets.
4.2 Activity/Strategy ( 7 minutes). RACE TO SURVIVE!
 Each group will be given manila papers, strips of words, glue/paste, and a
marker. The strips of words contain basic response procedures if inside a
burning area and outside the burning area. Their task is to classify the
different strips of words as to things to do if inside the burning area and
things to do if outside the burning area.

Note: One should only fight a fire if the fire
department has been notified, the fire is small, the
fire is confined to its point of origin, an escape route
is available, and one can fight the fire with their
back to the exit.
D. If the fire is already large and is

they are warm, do not attempt to

route.
F. Use the stairs not elevators.
G. Close all windows and doors that
you can reach as you exit.
H. If there is smoke, stay as low as
possible. Also, try to cover your
nose to prevent inhalation.
I. Once outside, move away from the
exits and assemble in a safe area
designated by the evacuation plan
of the area or by emergency
response teams.

Note: For distance learning, this activity may be done by the learners through
google sheets or the SLHT/Module provided to them.
4.3 Analysis ( 7 minutes).  The teacher will ask the following questions after the activity.
 How did you find the activity?
 How did you come up with your answers?
 Do you have previous experience with fire incidents? If yes, what did you
do?

Note: For distance learning, the learners may answer this activity through
synchronous online learning or google sheets or the SLHT/Module provided to
them.
4.4 Abstraction ( 5 minutes).  The teacher will reinforce the concept through discussion. (While the
checker in each group checks each other’s work.)
1. Before an actual fire incident occurs, there is some information that people need to
know.
I. Emergency contact numbers especially the nearest fire station
II. Exit points
III. Location of fire hose and fire extinguishers
IV.Proper use of fire hose and fire extinguishers
V. Proper precautionary measures (e.g. proper storage of combustibles, fuels, etc.)
Basic Response Procedures:
1. If inside a burning area
A. Once you hear the fire alarm, evacuate to a safe area right away.
B. If you see fires, pull fire alarms as you exit the area. Inform other people present in
the area of the fire that is occurring.
C. If the fire is still small and can be extinguished, use an appropriate fire extinguisher
(recall the different classes of fire). Usually, normal fire extinguishers do the job, but if
unavailable, buckets of water or damp cloths would do.
Note: One should only fight a fire if the fire department has been notified, the fire is small, the fire is
confined to its point of origin, an escape route is available, and one can fight the fire with their back to
the exit.
D. If the fire is already large and is rapidly spreading (growth phase), immediately find
the nearest exit and exit the area.
E. Touch doors first to check if they are warm before opening them. If they are warm,
do not attempt to open and proceed to a different route.
F. Use the stairs not elevators.
G. Close all windows and doors that you can reach as you exit.
H. If there is smoke, stay as low as possible. Also, try to cover your nose to prevent
inhalation.
I. Once outside, move away from the exits and assemble in a safe area designated by
the evacuation plan of the area or by emergency response teams.
2. If outside a burning area
A. Do not attempt to go inside the burning area.
B. Immediately contact the nearest fire station and other emergency response
numbers.
C. Listen and follow orders of the emergency response teams.
D. Organize/Participate in a bucket relay. Bucket relay is when people help the
firefighters by passing buckets full of water either to try to extinguish the fire or to prevent
the fire from further spreading.
3. If you catch fire, do the “stop, drop, and roll” right away.
4. If you are unable to leave the area unscathed or you have suffered burns, immediately
attend to them depending on the degree of burn.

NOTE: For distance learning, this may be discussed through synchronous online
learning or they can read the materials through google classroom, or the learners
may read this in the SLHT/Module provided to them.
4.5 Application ( 10 minutes).  The teacher will let the learners think of a possible fire scenario at home or
in school and will let them simulate the basic response if there is a fire.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITY: The teacher will let the group think of a possible fire
scenario at home or in school and will let them discuss or explain the basic fire
response that they need to do in that specific scenario.

Note: For distance learning, this may be performed by the learners through
activity in google classroom or google sheets or they may also answer it in the
SLHT/Module provided to them.
4.6 Assessment ( 15 minutes). The teacher will give a formative assessment to the learners. (attached in this DLP)

Note: For distance learning, the assessment may be answered by the learners
through google sheets or the SLHT/Module provided to them.
4.7 Assignment ( 5 minutes). Fill in below any of  The teacher will ask the learners to create a Fire Preparedness Plan.
the four purposes: A fire preparedness plan is a document that details what one should do in case of
fire. It essentially tells people what to do in case of a fire incident in their homes.
 The students will envision their homes being engulfed by fire and they
should be able to come up with how to deal with a fire incident, before,
during, and after a fire.
 They should come up with roles for each member of the household should a
fire occur. Also, they should be able to establish evacuation routes inside
their houses.
 Aside from evacuation routes, they should also be able to come up with a
common location where they’ll go and a communication plan should they be
separated from one another.

Note: For distance learning, this may be done by the learners using Microsoft
Word application or by answering in the SLHT/Module provided to them.
4.8 Concluding Activity ( 3 minutes).
This is usually a brief but effective closing activity such as a strong
quotation, a short song, an anecdote, a parable, or a letter that
inspires the learners to do something to practice their new learning.

 Remarks Indicate below special cases including but not limited to continuation of lesson plan to the following day in case
of re-teaching or lack of time, transfer of lesson to the following day, in cases of class suspension, etc.
 Enriching/inspiring the day’s lesson
 Reflections Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your student’s progress this week. What
works? What else needs to be done to help the students learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors
can provide for you so when you meet them, you can ask them relevant questions. Indicate below whichever
is/are appropriate.
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation.
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for
remediation.
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who
have caught up with the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation.
E. Which of my learning strategies worked well? Why did
these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or
supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish to share with other teachers?
