• Cummins® Emissions Solutions

• Shaw

Issue

Symptom:

• DEF tank level gauge reading does not match actual DEF tank fill level.
Root Cause:

• Rapid DEF tank level changes or sloshing may cause an inaccurate DEF tank
level gauge reading.

Verification

• DEF tank or DEF level sensor related fault codes are not present.
• DEF tank or DEF tank level sensor is not damaged.
• A difference exists between DEF tank level gauge reading and actual DEF tank
fill level.

Resolution

• Compare engine control module (ECM) code and revision number to calibration
revisions listed in the ECM Calibration Revision History on QSOL for applicable
changes related to this issue.
• Perform a key cycle to verify complete ECM shutdown and wait for 5 minutes
after Key ON to see any change in the DEF level reading at DEF level gauge.
• If DEF tank level gauge begins to update, wait until DEF tank level gauge reading
reaches observed DEF fill level in DEF tank.
• If DEF tank level gauge reading does not match actual DEF tank fill level, fill DEF
tank completely with key switch in ON position. Wait 10 minutes or until DEF tank
level gauge updates with an accurate reading.
