Prerequisites
1. Web browser.
2. The EasyIO FW Series Sedona Controller.
3. Firmware file.
4. Always upgrade the firmware of a brand new purchase controller for optimum performance.

Firmware Upgrade Procedure

Step 1
The firmware file is a single file with the name of fw140.tar.gz for V1 FW Series controllers.
The firmware file is a single file with the name of fw280.tar.gz for V2 FW Series controllers.
Dot gz (*.gz) is a type of compression file format.

DO NOT edit or modify the extension or content. This damaged the file compression.
DO NOT rename the file. This will cause firmware not recognize by the controller.

Step 2
Connect to the EasyIO FW wireless network.
Either SSID1 or SSID2 can perform the firmware upgrade procedure.
(For detail user guide about wifi network please refer to EasyIO FW Series – User Reference)

By default the EasyIO FW controller SSID is FW-xxxx , where xxxx is the last 4 digit of the MAC address.
Default password for the SSID is 12345678
EasyIO FW-xxxx SSID will automatically assign an IP address for computer.

Optionally you can connect to the controller via ethernet port. Either ethernet port is connectable.

Step 3
In the web browser address bar type in the FW series controller IP address (default is 192.168.10.30).
The IP address of the FW controller solely depend to your connection type.
In the example below SSID FW-xxxx is used.

Step 4
At the login page, input the username and password.
By default username and password is as below.

Username : admin
Password : hellocpt

Step 5

Step 9
Click Flash Firmware button after firmware file is selected.
The FW series controller will start file uploading process.
The file upload speed depends to the network speed connection.

Tech Tip: -**during firmware flashing, no power interruption is allowed. Any power
interruption will damage the controller and if this occurs the controller cannot be
recovered and controller is required to shipped back to EasyIO for recovery process.
Ensure the controller is supplied with a constant 24Vac or 24Vdc supply during the flashing
procedure**

Step 10
Once the file upload is complete, firmware upgrading procedure will start.

Step 11
The controller Error LED will light up constantly during its firmware upgrade procedure.

8
FW Series – firmware upgrade guide v2.0

The firmware upgrade procedure will take approximately 10 to 12 minutes.

Wi-Fi connection will be disconnect during this period.
Do not attempt to connect to the controller during this period.

**DO NOT LOSE POWER TO THE CONTROLLER DURING THIS PERIOD.**

It is important to wait and allow the flashing/reboot process to complete.

Wait for the RED LED (ERR) to turn off for before powering off or perform any connection.

Failure to follow this precautionary instruction may damage the controller requiring it to be returned
back to factory for repairs or replacement.

** IMPORTANT: DO NOT LOSE POWER DURING THIS PERIOD. POWER LOST DURING FIRMWARE
UPGRADING PROCEDURE WILL RESULT IN PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE CONTROLLER.**

Step 11
Once the controller firmware upgrade procedure is completed, the “Error” LED (ERR) will go turn OFF and
the controller will boot up normally.

Step 12
Verify controller firmware upgrade is successful, connect to the controller using CPT tool and look at the
“platform” (plat) in the service folder or login to the web browser and go to the firmware upgrade page
to verify the firmware and MCU version.
**V1 FW Series will has a version number of V1.0bxx**
**V2 FW Series will has a version number of V2.0bxx**

Kits version VS Firmware version

Every firmware comes with a new set of Sedona kits that matches it firmware.
It is very important that you make sure you install/run your apps with the latest and correct kits against it
firmware.

The Sedona kit version numbering is constructed in five (5) segments as follows;
Example: easyioFWxxx 1.0.45.yy.zz

Segment 1 Segment 2 Segment 3 Segment 4 Segment 5

easyioFW xxx 1.0.45 yy zz
Represents kit name Sedona This is the firmware Kit revision number
the kit is only example : platform version supported. This number will be
applicable for FWSql build This number will be incremented with each kit
the EasyIO FW incremented with each enhancement/release.
Series firmware release.

The following example is intended to assist in understanding the new numbering scheme.
This example is for the kit “easyioFWBACnet 1.0.45.12.28”.

Segment 1 Segment 2 Segment 3 Segment 4 Segment 5

easyioFW BACnet 1.0.45 12 6

Segment 1 - “easyioFW”- identifies that the kit is for FG Series Controller use only

Segment 2 - “BACnet” – identifies that the kit is the BACnet Kit

Segment 3 - “1.0.45” –identifies the Sedona platform build number

Segment 4 - “.12” –identifies the Sedona firmware version number and therefore denotes the compatible
controller firmware build (or version) number. In this case the Sedona firmware version number is “12”
and therefore is only compatible with firmware build (or Firmware version number) b12 of the FW series
controller firmware.

Remember that the Controller Firmware Version and the Sedona Kit Version must match. In this
example the Controller Firmware Version (or Build) number must be build “12”.

Segment 5 – “.6” –identifies the kit revision number. In this case the revision number is revision 6.

Please note the importance of the difference between the firmware version number and the Sedona Kit
REVISION number.

The Controller Firmware VERSION/BUILD number must be the same as the Sedona Kit VERSION number.
