Monitoring Software for Yamaha AD8HR Microphone Preamps

YamMon software provides complete remote control capability for up to 255

Yamaha™ AD8HR Microphone Preamps from a remote PC computer without the
need for a Yamaha Console. In addition to full functional support of the Yamaha
communications protocol, YamMon provides the capability to uniquely name
each Preamp module as well as each individual channel for complete
organization. Your entire configuration can be easily saved to a file for backup
and future recall. A simple RS-232 null modem connection is all that is needed to
control an entire bank of AD8HRs. For a complete fiber optic remote control
setup, feed the digital outputs of the AD8HRs into a LightViper VIS-4832 system
and pass the control signal for the Preamps right down the same fiber!

Works on Microsoft Windows 98, 2000, Millennium and XP

Minimum Requirements:
Processor 400 MHz
Memory 256 Mb
Hard Disk Space 280 Mb
Display 800 x 600 256 colors

Setup
Set the ‘PC RS422’ switch on the first AD8HR to the ‘PC’ position.

Using a 9-pin null modem cable, connect the RS-232 Serial port of your PC to
the 9-pin PC connection on the first AD8HR. Using Yamaha suggested 9-pin
cables, daisy chain the remaining AD8HRs .

Optional Setup
This optional setup provides maximum convenience and flexibility by
utilizing the LightViper 4832 Fiber Optic Transport System. The 4832
passes both 32 channels of the AES3 digital outputs from 4 AD8HRs and
the RS-232 control signal all on one fiber optic cable. For more information
about the benefits of the LightViper Fiber Optic Transport Systems visit

Controls

The YamMon interface is intuitive and designed to mimic the functionality

of the AD8HR front panel controls.

Master Controls

ID: A drop down list used to select from all available Preamps. The list
contains the Device ID and the user assigned name for that
particular preamp.
Preamp Name: Directly below the ID list is the name of the current preamp. This can
be used to provide a clear identification of each preamp module.
Clock Source: Selects and displays the current clock frequency and source of the
selected preamp.
Enable Meters: Checking this box enables real time monitoring of all 8 channels of
the current preamp.
Panel Lock: Checking this box locks the front panel and disables local control of
the selected preamp.
48V Master: This control is for display only. A check indicates that the hard switch
for the “+48V MASTER” on the selected preamp is engaged.
LED Brightness: Sliding this control adjusts the brightness of the LED display on the
selected preamp.

Channel Controls

48V: Indicates and changes the 48V phantom power status of the
channel.
HPF: Indicates and changes the HPF status of the channel.
HPF Freq: Indicates and selects the HPF roll off frequency of the High Pass
Filter of the channel.
Meter: Indicates the signal level of the channel if the “Enable Meters” check
box is selected.
Gain Slider: Adjust the Gain Slider to the desired gain level. A numerical
equivalent of the gain level displays directly below the slider.
Trim: Indicates and selects the Gain Trim of the channel.
Channel Name: This field allows 8 characters of descriptive test for the channel.
