Job Title: Outdoor Adventure Guide - Winter 22/23

Location:  North Vancouver, Grouse Mountain

Department:  Mountain Adventures

Reports to:  Manager/Supervisor, Mountain Adventures

Role Status: Seasonal

As a Grouse Mountain employee, you will be required to:

 Demonstrate an approach to work consistent with and supportive of Grouse Mountains


goals, values, policies and procedures
 Have the ability to embrace all aspects of your job, even in inclement weather
 Deliver an enthusiastic and professional level of guest service at all times, working with
guests of all ages and abilities
 Be punctual, reliable and show up for work in full uniform with an enthusiastic attitude in all
weather conditions. Arrive fit for work and take responsibility for your personal health and
safety.
 Provide guests with information regarding all Grouse Mountain products, activities, events
and daily mountain operations schedule.
 Be a team player, dependable and work considerately with all other departments
 Show initiative in handling routine matters and have quick, thoughtful judgement in any
situation.
 Possess a willingness to learn new skills and a proactive approach to work.

As an Outdoor Adventure Leader, you will be focused on but not limited to:

 Providing a meaningful tour, on or off Snowshoes, for groups of all ages and ability levels in
a safe, friendly, and professional manor
 Delivering and leading a fun, educational tour, which may include (but is not limited to)
nature information, experiential activities, and first nation's history and culture.
 Awareness of and strict adherence to mountain safety rules for enforcing operational
procedures while providing exceptional customer service.
 Ability to effectively assess risk and make calculated decisions, putting groups safety at the
upmost priority.
 Manage time effectively for small, medium and large groups’ scheduled activities, address
concerns of group and liaise with other Grouse Mountain departments; recognize and
quickly adjust to change
 Assisting Manager/Supervisor with coordination or set up for tours, participant sign-in and
sign-out and group organization or winter inventory
 Other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 Snowshoeing and/or outdoor guiding experience


 Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking/hiking/running, as well as
speaking and delivering information to guests and large groups
 Experience and/or qualifications preferred in following areas: Outdoor Education, First
Nations, Wildlife/Ecology, Physical Education, Health/Wellness, Sustainability, Tourism,
Experiential Education, leadership
 Able to work outside in all weather conditions
 An understanding of risk-management and assessment
 Excellent communication skills, and professional demeanor required
 Energetic, and enthusiastic about nature
 Successful candidate must complete a criminal record check once offered the position,
before start date (19 years of age or over. Grouse Mountain will assist you with the
process.)
 Must be willing to commit to at least 2 days a week consistently through the Winter 2022-23
season
 Willingness to guide tours on a varied schedule, including day time, evenings, weekends
and holidays.
