GUIDELINES FOR BOOK REVIEW PROJECTS (20%)
*Presented through Digital Story*

A) Characteristics of a good review:


 The review should introduce the reader to the book's content and focus on the subject of
the book being reviewed.
 Avoid repeating its table of contents; rather, give the reader some idea of the author's main
idea and how the story was developed
 Inform how the book adds, changes, or breaks new ground in your knowledge
 Convey the content of the book, not chapter by chapter so much as the entire book.
 May add flavor to the review by including pungent or revealing quotations from the book
 Be specific and give details/ explanations. Try not to be too abstract or vague in the review
 Strive to make your review richly informative, even insightful.

B) Components of the review in the Digital Story:


 Include title, author, place, publisher, publication date, edition, pages, price, ISBN, etc.
 Hook the reader with your opening sentence. Set the tone of the review.
 Review the book you read -- not the book you wish the author had written.
 If this is the best book you have ever read, say so -- and why.
 Feedbacks on the book and the experience in reading the book.

C) Points to Ponder:
 What was the story about?
 Who were the main characters?
 Were the characters credible?
 What did the main characters do in the story?
 Did the main characters run into any problems? Adventures?
 Who was your favorite character? Why?

- Your personal experiences


 Could you relate to any of the characters in the story?
 Have you ever done or felt some of the things, the characters did?

- Your opinion
 Did you like the book?
 What was your favorite part of the book?
 Do you have a least favorite part of the book?
 If you could change something, what would it be? (If you wish you could change the
ending, don't reveal it!)

- Your recommendation
 Would you recommend this book to another person?
 What type of person would like this book?
