1 SAFETY NORMS

1. Keep this manual in a place easy to reach for the end user.

2. Before and during any mechanic or electric intervention, the machine should be
disconnected from mains since some parts are under high tension

3. Disregarding safety norms during installation and maintenance operations just as the
inobservance of the directions of this service manual may reduce the safety level of our
controllers.

4. The new ECT-F and DMLP Digital Monitor controllers are to a certain degree immune to
electromagnetic disturbances, according to CEE directives. To reduce the causes of
irradiated or conductive disturbances that might propagate through the probes, electric
loads and feed of the control, please cable wires avoiding their passage next to high
absorbance charges or electromagnetic disturbance sources.

2.2 S4 digital input

S4 input is set as a digital micro door input and accepts only potential free contacts with
direct or inverted logic. Attention! no tension should be applied to S4 terminals.

2.3 S5 humidity probe

Install the humidity probe (type 4-20 mA or 3-18 mA) in a place not affected by air flows, to
allow the measurement of the real humidity level inside the chamber. Respect the polarity
of the wires when connecting to the remote board. An incidental inversion might damage
both probe and the entry circuit of the ECT-F control.

2.4 Loads installation

Take care during faston insertion not to bend the printed circuit, to avoid damages or
breakdowns. Connect the 230 V AC power supply to the fastons Neutral and Live
respecting the positions. Relay U1 is a potential free contact and is not connected to the
neutral or live contacts. The fastons marked N are in parallel and connected to the Neutral
entry one. Relay U2 has an exchange contact and therefore runs the live wire on U2A at
rest and U2B when activated. Fastons U3-U4-U5-U6 carry the live load when their relays
are activated. See electric scheme hereunder.

6 AUTOMATIC DEFROST

The algorithm of Automatic Defrost is a system to indirectly detect the presence of ice on
the evaporator of refrigeration equipment, and it is patented.

BASIC CONCEPT
The basic concept through which the automatic defrost system is defined is that the
presence of ice or hoarfrost on the evaporator blades will negatively affect the thermal
exchange between the evaporator and the refrigerated cabinet. Therefore, with the same
setting temperature, the greater is the obstruction on the evaporating pack, the more the
evaporator temperature will decrease.
The openings of the door of the refrigerated cabinet cause an uncontrolled variation of the
evaporation temperature, which under certain condition may reach the level of defrost
activation. To solve such inconvenience the controller does not consider the compressor
cycles during which door openings have taken place.
7 SPECIAL FUNCTIONS

7.1 Second Cooling - Function enabled by FOP, weight 128

This function has been developed to increase the precision in the regulation of the
temperature inside the refrigerated chamber. The fan of the evaporator is independent and
works exploiting, when compressor is off, the latent cold accumulated in the evaporator.
While developing this function several temperature levels have been defined, and some of
them have been expressed by algebraic sums containing the parameters HWH , HWL,
HYL, HYH & FAS .

INHIBITION
1. Until reaching the first set after switching on and after defrost when
fans are control from the FAS parameter.
2. In case the evaporator sensor is not installed (DTE=50).
3. In case of broken evaporator sensor.
7.2 Stop On Door - Function enabled by OSP weight 16

The goal of the function Stop On Door is to avoid an excessive lowering of the evaporation
temperature caused by a fans stop after the opening of the door of the refrigerator. If this
function is active the time parameter SOD expressed in seconds will cause the
compressor to switch off in accordance with the minimum evaporation temperature.

7.3 Safety thermo settings in case of S1 faulty probe

Cabinet temperature control is transferred to the sensor of the evaporator. During
thermosetting, after the phase of defrost, a calibration procedure is run, in order to record
the maximum and minimum evaporation temperature with evaporator blades free from ice,
after a phase of stabilisation. These values represent the reference for those of regulation,
referring to the set point and its differential. So, if the sensor is faulty, the control is
transferred to the evaporator probe, and its references will be the same of calibration.
ECT-F Control, in this condition, has a feedback and can ensure the correct temperature in
case of frequent door openings or eventual load variations. In this situation, the display will
visualise a blinking set-point temperature only in the case that the evaporation temperature
is in between the new regulation limits.

7.4 CONDENSER breakdown

INTERVENTION AND RESTART LOGIC
As a consequence of the overflow of the MCT limit, the compressor is forced OFF.
At the value MCT-DCR, the switching on of the compressor will be tried 2 times
(automatic restart).
INTERVENTIONS COUNTING
If, within the TBP time, a number PMT of interventions is acquired, the unit will signal a
failure of the CONDENSER. As a consequence, the compressor is forcefully turned OFF
Fiocchetti Service ECT-F / DMLP DIGITAL MONITOR

until the re-start of the ECT-F Control (manual restart). The message of CONDENSER
failure persists until manual TURN OFF and TURN ON of the Controller
7.5 EVAPORATOR breakdown
If a low temperature condenser alarm is detected (S2<LET), the controller will force a
defrost for protection. If, during the recovery phase, the same S2<LET condition is still
present, the compressor will work according to the CON/COF times updated with the
balanced previous working times. On the contrary, if the recovery phase brings to the set-
point with S2>LET, the thermoregulation will be normal and the alarm message
EVAPORATOR will be cancelled simply by pressing any button.

7.6 Dirty Condenser detection

The ECT-F Control is developed to sense and signal the clogged condenser, when the S3
sensor is configured as Condenser Sensor. An explanation of the relevant algorithm
follows
BASIC HYPOTHESIS
The thermal gap of the condenser doesn’t directly depend on the ambient temperature.
Variations (low variations) of the ambient temperature will bring similar variations on the
maximum and minimum temperature of the condenser.
The presence of hindrances will bring a sensible higher thermal gap of the condenser.
The condenser temperature is measures continuously (every second), and the highest and
lowest values are constantly kept updated.
Every time the compressor is turned ON, the condenser thermal gap is measured as the
difference between the maximum value and the minimum value. Minimum and maximum
values are intended in-between the complete precedent compressor cycle. The average
value of the thermal gap is calculated taking in consideration the latest 6 compressor
cycles: excluded the highest and the lowest values, the average value is arithmetically
calculated.

ACTIVATION
The average thermal gap calculated will then filter the eventual quick variations of the
ambient temperature. Failure is activated if the average value of the condenser thermal
gap is bigger or equal to the value of the parameter PTD.

INHIBITION

 Condenser sensor error;

 First compressor cycle after turning on the equipment, after defrosting and after door
opening;
 Maximum condenser temperature lower than the value (FCE+15°C)

10 Replacement of ECT-F CONTROL board and keypad

In case of replacement of the control board of ECT-F, it is mandatory to insert, using the
Wizard Key, the correct program according to the model of equipment.
The procedure can be done by the manufacturer when passing the order for the spare
part, if the correct information concerning model type is given. On the contrary, the
controller will be supplied with a program that will enable only the reading of the ambient
probe (thermometer function). Every 30 seconds the display will visualize the message
PROGRAM, meaning the controller should be set.
When replacing the board, the following installation instructions must be followed using the
maximum care:

-Don’t place the relays board on a conductive surface even if they are not fed from the
mains: the internal non-rechargeable back-up battery could short-circuit and discharge

-Pay attention that no metallic small parts enter in contact with the relays board and the
display board. For this reason, once the installation has been carried out, blow the surface
with air in order to clean it from potentially risky parts

-Insert and disconnect the probes, the electric loads and the cable connecting the remote
board to the display when the board is not connected

-The connections to the electric loads must be kept apart from the connections to the
probes entries

Once the board has been replaced and the correct installation of the electric connections
has been verified, turn on the controller and start WITHOUT FAIL an INFOTEST to verify
the correct working of the equipment and data recording.

This function can be start and/or stopped simply by keeping for a few seconds the button

Pressed. This button, that would normally start the function “Info Doctor View” at the

first turning on of the equipment, will in this case run a Functional Test.

Once the test is finished it is possible by entering the service menu Infotest Data (4.9) to
visualize the working data and to compare them with the default ones supplied by the
manufacturer.
To replace the keypad just disconnect the bipolar cable and remove the no.3 nuts placed
in the back side. After the replacement, respect the cable polarity.

15 REPLACEMENT OF DMLP CONTROL BOARD AND KEYPAD

You should pay the maximum attention when replacing the DMLP control board, and
follow all the installation instructions as for the ECT-F control board (see paragraph 10).
The first time DMLP monitor is turned on, you will be able to enter the serial number of the
equipment (that can be read on the technical data label of the equipment), in order to
identify in an univocal way the inserted SD car.

In this phase of switching on, the serial number of the equipment must be available
without fail.

Before feeding the equipment, extract the SD Card from the slot of the DMLP Digital
Monitor.
Do not plug the equipment to the mains and wait for the “STAND BY” on the DMLP that
will indicate the correct feed of the unit. Press now any button for a few seconds to turn on
the DMLP.
The following information will be displayed in a sequence on the monitor: “SWITCHING
ON ---MODEL----FIRMWARE VERSION ---SERIAL NUMBER OF THE EQUIPMENT.”
In order to enter the serial number of the unit, you’ll have to push at the same time the
FIOCCHETTI 30
Fiocchetti Service ECT-F / DMLP DIGITAL MONITOR

buttons and until the message “s/n………..” appears.

Use the buttons and to enter every number composing the S/N number,

and confirming every single time by means of

After having introduced the last number, confirm the whole procedure using the symbol

“enter” ( ).

Now the DMLP will switch on correctly and will display the message “SD REMOVED” that
can be cancelled right after the insertion of the SD card in its slot.
The information concerning the serial number will so be recorded on the SD card, and will
allow a perfect correspondence between the equipment and the data stored inside the SD
Card.

To replace the keypad just disconnect the bipolar cable and remove the no.3 nuts placed
in the back side. After the replacement, respect the cable polarity.

16 INSTALLATION OF DMLP PRINTER

KIT: no 1 PRINTER
no 1 SERIAL CABLE
no 1 BLOCKING BRACKET
Any equipment fitted with DMLP Digital Monitor is pre- set for the installation of the DMLP
printer.
Detach the label “Printer”, and remove the metal sheet using a suitable tool
(sheet scissors) to obtain a square slot of 76x72mm.
Insert the printer as per the drawing and block it using the supplied bracket.

Pay attention: For a correct blocking, press hard on the two zones corresponding to the
two connectors on the printer

Now connect the electric wiring inserting the connector in the back part of the printer and
